Ander amenities if you scroll all the way down to services, it has "cleaning before check out". What does that mean? The guest has to clean? I start cleaning before they check out (a host pulled that one on me once)? That I clean during there stay?
@John5097 @Helen350 Re: invasion of privacy, don't forget that the Airbnb Terms of Service makes it clear the host is allowed to re-enter the unit even when guests are there, because booking an Airbnb does not convey rights of tenancy (on short-term stays, at least): "2.3 Accommodation Reservations. An Accommodation reservation is a limited license to enter, occupy, and use the Accommodation. The Host retains the right to re-enter the Accommodation during your stay, to the extent: (i) it is reasonably necessary, (ii) permitted by your contract with the Host, and (iii) consistent with applicable law. If you stay past checkout, the Host has the right to make you leave in a manner consistent with applicable law, including by imposing reasonable overstay penalties. You may not exceed the maximum number of allowed Guests." (emphasis mine)
Thanks for the information @Ann72 . Good to know. However when I got my STR insurance through Proper the first thing they asked me was if there was any shared space. They don't even offer insurance if there is shared space. They also include million dollar coverage for invasion of privacy. As I recall that was a leading claim with STR. But that's good information you shared. I would feel less stressed out going into a rented space with STR guest if a smoke alarm went off or something. Hopefully I'll be able to get in contact with ABB if I ever need them. I really enjoy the positivity of my guest. Sorry if my comment was misunderstood by anyone. I tend to have a high standard of ethics and consideration which can confuse a lot of people.
@Inna22 Thankfully no one has asked for any kind of discounts from me. I did mention that it takes 3 hours to clean in the listing that cut back on guest wanting to check in early, I also state no early bag drop off. I'm learning the hard way not to extend special favors to one guest or next guest expects more. If I offered additional cleaning during stay they would need to sign up for a time slot. I wouldn't rely on sending them messages. I would want it to be clear they would be signing up for it. I think all host are different. Single moms sometimes smuggle the daughters in and don't mention them at all they are so protective, altough I also have some who are in town for medical appointments, sensitive to allergies, etc.
@John5097 I allow early check-in for a fee and don’t my mind luggage drop off. I don’t let them go inside though.

I would have thought it would be off the tables into a dark unused cupboard or swept under the carpet with Covid19 protocols required. Why would I do a clean before someone left, when I ideally have to wait a minimum of three hours or even better, a day to enter a space. “Clean” this amenity off the listing choices @Airbnb!
Logic - NOT!
@Inna22 I have always inferred it means the host can provide housekeeping service during a guest's stay. It should therefore say on your listing, if you check this option, "This host offers housekeeping service during your stay." And should give the host the option to charge for this service.
@Ann72 I actually do offer that service for a fee and no one has ever taken me up on it which I find interesting
Hey everyone,

I hope you are having a good holiday period. Thanks for asking about this Inna.
As many of you have mentioned, this amenity option has been around for quite a long time, so I imagine some hosts are using it. I would be interest to know how many hosts apply it, as it is an optional amenity–but as we know the CC we have lots of different types of hosts in our community (if you host long term guests offering cleaning during the stay is quite a logical thing to offer and this would therefore be useful).
Looking back at the 2017 thread, I see there was a response added, and to me I would say that it refers to hosts offering to clean during the stay (as it's an option added by the host), but I agree it would be useful to get a proper definition on what it means.
Let me have a look into this and I'll get back to you (just a small caveat it might be early Jan due to the holiday season).
Thank you,
Lizzie

Thank you Lizzie, I'm sure its a simple explanation but so far its decoding has eluded us. If it is cleaning during a stay, that could be directly in conflict with the covid cleaning policy. Be well. JR
No worries @Melodie-And-John0, it's makes sense 🙂 I'll see what I can do.
Hope you and Melodie had a lovely Christmas. It must be cold where you are, we're getting a bit of snow here in the UK now (after a lot of rain).

@Lizzie , We had a great yet strange Christmas, I hope yours was wonderful! -5 C is a heatwave and we only have 6" of snow now, a couple weeks ago however it was a different story!
Thank you, @Lizzie, and there's no rush! Hope you're enjoying your holidays.
If our interpretation is correct - it indicates mid-stay housekeeping - then the next question will be why we are unable to charge a separate fee for this, something that's been discussed a lot here.
