Exploring LA: Learn more about the AO16 City

Hello everyone,

I know there have been quite a few questions here in the CC about the specific AO location and the different neighbourhoods in Los Angeles, so I thought you might find this newly created page, Explore LA, handy. It gives a guide to the city, plus an overview of how to get around LA, using public transport and other means. 

There are so many different things to see and do in LA. If you live there or have visited before, what are your top tips? For example this could be related to nice areas to visit, perhaps you have some savvy tips for traveling on public transport and even how the ticket system works! Plus, what would be on your recommendation list? 🙂

Hello @Judi8 and @Natasha20,

Thanks for asking. At the moment, we are still waiting for the specific event timetable to be announced by the Open Team, it is due to be shared in October so it shouldn't be long now.

In terms of last year's Open though, the first keynote session on the Thursday started at around 9am, it is not certain this will be the case this year for AO16, but I thought this that might be useful to know. 🙂

As soon as I know more I will be sure to update you here, also keep an eye out on the Airbnb Open webpage, airbnbopen.com.

How are your plans coming along?

Thanks for the information. I currently have all my reservations--arriving Thutsday at around 10 am so will change that if necessary. I am coming from Northern California so would prefer not to incur an extra night of expensive accommodations. (But I love my Airbnb place that's in the boundaries of the venue. Hoping for a roommate.

My husband and I have tickects and went on today to book our schedules and our Pass id arecoming up invalid yet i have the confirmation and id numbers right in front of me.  i dont want to miss any of the events .  Please advise what i can do to rectify this quickly.

This is my first time for Airbb event. I am trying to find what airport is closest to the event area. Where should I fly into?

What area would be closest to the event to stay for the weekend? 

Where is the event being held?

There is so much to read I am not sure where to go for the first day.

Does anyone know the time and place of registration on the 17th? We leave New Zealand in a few days time and may not have email until we arrive in LA on the 16th. We still have no idea where to turn up on the 17th and need to know urgently????

Good spot @Pablo30, yes the schedule has just been announced. I have also included in my post here in the AO board. 

Hopefully this will give you a better ideas of timings, so you can plan your day. 🙂

Hi again, now from Madrid, where the Airbnb Host Day took place yesterday (and we had a very good time indeed)!

If I may suggest, I would add the direction where the place where the show is going to happen. 

For instance, about the registration, I searched in Google The Valley Los Angeles, and what appears is13425 Ventura Blvd #200, Sherman Oaks, CA 91423, EE. UU., not close to the area where the Downtown Palace is (14,6 miles). Is that right? A place (or another place apart from that one) a little closer would be better, without wanting to criticise at all, because if one wants to do the check-in (even starting at 8am, or would it be possible to register the day before, or to register online?), and then hear Chip Conley at 9am, I do not know if there is enough time, to tell the truth (is transport in LA THAT good?). We are many hosts, and I'm sure there will be identification problems that make that identification does not always run smoothly. 

Another example: I searched The Oasis also in Google, and what appears first for me is The Oasis Church, 634 Normandie Avenue, 3,2 miles from the Downtown Palace. The distance would be right, but there is another Oasis, Baldwin Hills Crenshaw, 4005 Crenshaw Blvd, 6,1 miles from the Downtown Palace, not so close.
