GST Issues on Airbnb

Hello Airbnb Community,

I am reaching out in sheer frustration and desperation, hoping that someone here can provide guidance or assistance. Here's a brief rundown of my ongoing ordeal with Airbnb's support:

1. Updated Tax Information: I have successfully updated my tax info to reflect my business's PAN and Account Info.

2. Unable to Populate GST Details: Despite multiple attempts, I am unable to populate my GST details in the designated field on the platform and it throws up errors.

3. Inadequate Support: Airbnb support seems to lack the knowledge on how to handle this situation. For the initial two weeks, they have presented me with random advice, often trying to blame me for the issue.

4. Bug Acknowledgment: Finally, on April 12th, they acknowledged that it's a bug on their end. However, they haven't shared an ETA or a follow-up schedule.

5. Lack of Understanding of GST Obligations: Despite multiple reminders, Airbnb support doesn't seem to understand the monthly obligations that a GST filer needs to fulfill.

6. Closing Open Tickets: Every time I follow up, they claim that a specialist team is working on this and insist on closing the help ticket, which I don't understand given that this is an open issue.

7. Desperate Measures: Out of desperation, I even wrote a tweet, not knowing what else to do. Unfortunately, no action was taken even then.

8. No Response: Till today, I have not heard from anyone or gotten a response to my tweet, nor have I received a resolution despite multiple follow-ups with support ambassadors, specialists, and technical team reps.

Can someone please help or advise on how to resolve this issue? This ongoing problem is causing significant stress and impacting my ability to comply with GST obligations.

Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.

Best regards,
Raghav

Hi @Raghav32 👋

It's been a while since you posted and I'm wondering whether you managed to get a resolution to your question about GST issues? It'd be great to hear from you, so we can understand what the resolution was but also to support other Hosts who may have similar questions in the future. 😊

Hello Rebecca,

Thank you for reaching out. Unfortunately, I have not yet received a resolution to my issue. It has been over 60 days, and each time, a new representative contacts me without providing any concrete information or solution.

This delay has caused significant problems with my local government filings, as I am unable to submit my returns as required. Consequently, I am incurring losses in tax credits that I would otherwise be eligible for.

I am deeply concerned about the lack of progress given the severity of this situation. If you have to means to reach the right authorities reg this, I would request you to kindly communicate the seriousness of this matter and maybe even check with your counterparts in India on the seriousness of non-compliance from a GST standpoint and expedite a resolution.

thanks,

Raghav
