No, don't try to change my mind, you can't. It really is terrible. What were they thinking?

I want to be able to allow one night reservations, but they are very inefficient to host. The ratio of costs vs the income received skyrockets on one night reservations.
I don't want to change how I balance the nightly rate and the cleaning fee (which I have set to recover about half the cleaning costs, the rest is covered by the nightly rate). As it is, it feels fair for reservations that are just a couple days and fair for those up to six days before the weekly discount kicks in.
Is there a way to make it possible for me to allow one night reservations and make the economics worth it by charging something along the lines of a "single night reservation fee"? It seems I can control discounts and surcharges in almost every other facet except this one - especially with the Rule-Sets - but I can't find anything to help me make single night reservations economical by having the ability to add a single night reservations fee / surcharge.
This is so true. I've struggled with this too. I hope there is an answer.
@Brent224 I don't think there is a way to do this other than by increasing your nightly rate from say 80 to 100 (to keep the maths simple). Then if the additional cleaning costs 20 you are fine for a 1 night stay
You then need varying discount by length of stay as shown below
Nights. additional cleaning fee discount. revenue per night net of addl. cleaning and discount
1. 20 0 80
2 20 10 80
3. 20 15. 78
Its horribly complicated and I think the percentages will change depending on the additional cleaning fee you want to achieve relative to the price per night. I fear an Excel spreadsheet with goal seeking is needed here.
As i know many online booking platforms or property management systems allow hosts to set specific pricing rules or additional fees based on various criteria, such as the length of stay. You can configure the system to automatically add a special fee or adjust the pricing for one-night reservations to reflect the desired rate. It's advisable to check the specific features and options available on the platform or system you are using for managing reservations.

I could not face one night's stay. Maybe because I am getting older. It would wear out bedding, I don't charge for cleaning in the hopes that people will do something towards that before they leave, one night people would be a rush away.
@Dorothy278 Totally agree - We do minimum 3 nights because we don't like cleaning. We do find however that the less time people spend with us the less cooking happens and the less cleaning is needed. Even so you still have to change the beds and clean and hoover everything which we don't want either.
@Brent224 There are two questions that arise with this issue: methodology and economics. The former would be quite tricky. The latter is another story.
Single days are inherently more costly to the host because of low economies of scale and stands to reason a price to make a single day as profitable as one would make when charging for longer-stays probably would make that price largely undesirable anyway. I have found.
