Listing suspended for being a "duplicate" listing from a prior host

Hello everyone,

I’d really appreciate any advice from anyone who’s gone through something similar. We’re Superhosts and have been operating multiple listings on Airbnb for a few years now. Earlier this month (between March 1st–5th), we officially took over several apartment listings from another host who was no longer able to manage them due to their own issues with Airbnb.

We signed a lease transfer agreement with the landlord and completed a bill of sale for all assets, including the furniture and setup as well as pictures that the previous host had in place. After taking over, we began making upgrades to meet our standards and re-listed the units under our own Airbnb account as new listings.

Everything seemed to be going well — we already have guests staying in one of the units. The previous host removed his listings before we published ours, so there wasn’t any overlap or duplication in terms of live listings.

However, we just received a message from Airbnb stating: “Your listing will be removed on April 23rd. This listing appears to be a duplicate of [name of previous listing], which had recent issues. Because creating a duplicate of a listing with reported issues goes against our policies, your listing will be removed from Airbnb on April. 23, 2025

I have no option to file an appeal here nor have I heard back from anyone at Airbnb. 

If an appeal is filed, Airbnb says they’ll respond within 7 days, but the listing is currently inactive and can’t accept bookings. We’re hopeful they’ll approve the appeal, but we’ve heard of cases where resolution takes weeks or even months — and with a 12-month lease signed, we’re at serious financial risk if Airbnb holds us responsible for issues caused by a previous host under a separate account.

If anyone has gone through something similar — especially in situations where you’ve taken over a unit and created a new listing after a full transfer — we’d really appreciate any advice or tips to help navigate this.
