Local Government is requiring Liability Insurance Documentation with my property address and my name on the policy.

The house already has normal Home Owners insurance, but it does not cover Short Term Rental.

How do I get Air BNB to give me a policy document to satisfy the city of Norfolk, VA. I had to shut down the listing until this is resolved.

I am loosing money day after day...   Anyone know how to get this done?

Thanks,

David

Airbnb does not provide you such document. They offer protection for hosts, called Aircover:

It is advised to also have proper insurrance yourself. Please note many Home Owner policies do not offer protection for Short Term Rent (like hosting via Airbnb) and the insurrance company can even terminate your current insurrance if you mention it.

@David1325 I would buy proper insurance and quickly. If your house burns down through no fault of a guest the basic home owners policy will likely reject your claim and then Aircover won't pay out

No, you can “get” that bc it doesn’t exist. You need an insurance agent pronto.

You need a Commercial General Liability insurance policy rider on your insurance. Don't ever rely on AirBNB to protect you; they only protect themselves.

It's not up to Airbnb to provide this. As the business owner you need your own home insurance for short term lets and public liability. @David1325

@David1325  I see you are new here to the forums. You might want to spend a little time cruising the forums and see how often hosts are let down by AirCover. It's basically a DAILY occurrence here, where a host vents about it. Even with the new forum shuffle (and I suspect some of these posts are being archived), it won't be long before the daily complaints resume.

@David1325   Talk to your insurance company about a different policy, or find an independent agent who will find an appropriate STR policy for you.  We are in NC and currently insure through Foremost.
