Seasonal Requirement rule was ignored

I created a Seasonal Requirement that July 4,5 would be a minimum 2 night booking AND that booking falling on July 4,5 MUST check in on Monday July 4. I had this rule for a few reasons- I wanted to keep July 2, 3 open as another party was checking out on the 2nd as you can see on the calendar. This is a very lucrative weekend and we don’t do 1 night reservations for various reasons.

Anyway, tonight someone booked July 4 and 5 but managed to sneak over my seasonal rule of *only* checking in on Monday and they are checking in on  Sunday July 3rd! Now we have very expensive Saturday that won’t be booked (and no, both parties on either side of the Saturday don’t want to book it, even at a discount.)

I have no idea why this rule wasn’t honored. I do not trust Airbnb’s seasonal requirement rules now.

@Melissa280 You have found out the hard way that Airbnb's rules only apply to the days you set them on. As such it was legitimate to check in on the 3rd as your rule didn't apply to that date. Had someone tried to check in on the 5th then your rule would have worked and it would have done what you wanted if you had extended it to the 3rd.

We need to change the Season Requirement rules. I couldn’t put July 3 in my dates for 2 reasons- I didn’t want someone booking the 3rd and not the 2nd with it. I also needed the guest who checked in on the 4th to stay until at least the 6th. I assumed by stating Monday check in, it would tell the guest they could only check in on Monday the 4th.

What we need is more control.  I would like to create requirements like guests having to check in on a certain date (like July 4) instead of saying the day of the week. I’d also like to create a rule that if the guest checks in on a certain date (say Sunday July 3rd like this guest did) that they must also book the 2nd as well. I understand I may lose that guest but I’d rather wait.

We have issues like this every summer. Last year we wanted to go on vacation for 10 days so we needed a group to book a few days before we would leave. We set the minimum booking for 14 days. A group booked but it was the day after we were supposed to leave (even though we had a rule in place that was supposed to block this from happening, argh!!) and that particular date we had to scramble to get someone to turn it over so I had to re-arrange our own travel plans.

Airbnb, if you’re listening, please please please let us have specific rules on when we allow a group to check in or out and what dates, not just days of the week.

@Melissa280 You do have control, you just need to understand how to use it. Your rule sets for July 4th and 5th are working. But you do not have a rule set for July 3rd so any booking arrangement is possible on July 3rd.

We have limited controls, my request is more complicated.

If I included July 3rd in that rule but someone wanted to book Saturday July 2 and 3rd they wouldn’t be able to. I wanted someone to either book Saturday July 2 checking out July 5 or  later (I would also have to state a rule of a minimum of 4 nights as the house can’t be turned over until July 5.)

You can’t have 2 different seasonal rules with the same dates that contradict each other, That’s why I want more control as I stated in my earlier post.

I tried going back to making guests send reservation requests, something I don’t like (and Airbnb even punishes your listing for it) but then I’m waiting for those dates to be booked so I can go back to Instant Book and I have to ask each request if they are willing to altar their requests.
