Good morning .
I am renting an entire house for a vacation in Greece.
There is a special tax called "Environmental fee" or otherwise "Climate Crisis Resilience Fee" whose cost is 1.5€ per day of stay.
I did not find any setting to include it in the taxes, nor does RBNB include it in the final price, on the contrary, the booking has the tax included in the total paid by the guest.
Do you know what to do in such a case? How can I include this special tax in the total price that the visitor sees?
Hello @Stylianos10 👋
I found this article that I think should help you in the right direction: How to add taxes to listings
Please let me know how you get on with it! 😊
Hi Stylianos,
You may want to check the options on your listing settings:
Another option is, to mention the additional fee in your listing description. Inform guests that an environmental fee of 1.5€ per day will be added to the total price. You can handle this fee separately upon check-in or check-out using the Resolution Center page.
I hope this helps!
All the best,

Hi @Alicia753!
For step 4 that you described (Taxes -> Add a tax), I don't see the Add a tax option. Has this changed?
Thanks!

Hi @Eva3980 ! If you are still interested, activate Professional Hosting Tools in your Account Settings and 'Add Tax' will appear in your Listing's Edit Preferences.
The thing is, I'm not sure what type of Tax one selects in the dropdown menu that matches the durability fee and it seems that it hasn't been included in the options, so the rough and incomplete solution is probably to integrate the fee into the price you put on the platform and inform customers accordingly.

I don't have Professional Hosting Tools turned on, but I can still add the taxes as mentioned above.
The problem however is the amount of the tax depends on the season, although Airbnb continues to ignore this, even after it's been more than a year these taxes has been introduced. It is a task that would maybe take 5 minutes for a programmer to add, but Airbnb still couldn't offer that feature for some reason.
The existing solutions are problematic in different ways:
1) If you add a note to your listing that you will collect the tax separately, that is possible that some guests won't read this information and you might risk getting a bad review just for that. Additionally, it might be operationally difficult for some hosts, especially when self check in is offered.
2) If you integrate the taxes to your nightly price, then at the end of the year you are also taxed according to the total income including the amount collected for the taxes. So, you basically pay tax of the taxes. That option also affects your competition with other listings, as your price displayed to the potential guests includes the taxes and therefore higher, whereas some other hosts prefer to collect the taxes individually on arrival with lower prices advertised. If you would like to compensate for the extra tax paid for the taxes, you should even increase your rates more than the actual amount of the tax.
Hope Airbnb will decide to offer that simple feature soon, rather than focusing on less important updates or campaigns.
