"Other guests may be here" Vs. "Host lives here"

That title is automatic generated and appears at the top of the profile.
How is it being determined? In mine it appears "Other guests may be here", but should be "host lives here".

Thanks.

Finally I found how to bypass that bug:

Listing -> Rooms and spaces -> Shared spaces: Set only "Roomates" and save. Then unset "Roomates" and set "Me" and save. Then it will show in the profile "Host lives here".

@Eyal11

Eyal, you probably answered your own question! Much of the listing information is auto-generated.

I would love to say in my listing description that my Comfortable Hills 'Studio' contains 2 beds......a queen and a sofa bed but, when I try to clarify that, the programming classifies it as.....bedroom 1, Queen bed, common area, sofa bed so, because a 'queen' bed is mentioned, it infers that my studio listing has a separate bedroom......'Queen and bedroom' are linked, which in this case they are not!

You must describe what you offer comprehensively in the listing description.....'Come share our lovely property'  and then go on to describe exactly what the living arrangements might be without involving the programming Bot!

There are ways around these shortcomings Eyal, you just have to be a bit creative!

Cheers.........Rob

Hello @Robin4

I'm ever the optimist so I'm hoping that you can add various sleeping arrangements for your studio  by looking at the steps in the thread that I sent to Eyal.   I feel that there is a chance that you may be able to list that there is a queen bed AND a sofa bed in that one studio room AND that there are common areas that your guests share with you!

I checked on my space section of my listing and I  could add several additional sleeping possibilities to the bedrooms if I wanted to. Forgive me if you have already tried this😉

I should maybe add that I have switched on Pro tools that everyone can use not just the pros so I'm hoping you find the steps I mention.

All the best

@Joelle43

Yeah thanks for that Joëlle, admittedly I haven't tried for the last 3 years but when I last tried, and I did try many times over a 3 year period, the obstacle I ran into was the description...... Queen bed. The programming automatically assumes a queen bed will be in a separate bedroom, not in a common area.

It hasn't proved to be a major obstacle Joëlle, so I have not bothered to try lately but, thanks for your tip, I might give it a try and see what happens.

Cheers.......Rob

Ran into the same problem with a Studio property and finally found the solution. Under number of bedrooms put "0". Then the system understands this is a Studio property and will show that in the title description. Then you can add the queen bed & sofa bed (couch) to the "bedroom area" section.

@Joan2709

Thanks for that Joan, obviously others have  had the same issue and the programming has been changed to now accept this.

See, I learn something new every day!

Hello @Eyal11

This distinction between shared spaces with host and other guests can be entered for your listing and it might be worth checking which boxes have been ticked in your case.  Here is the process to do this:

In host mode:

==>Menu

==>Listing

==>Property and rooms

==>Rooms and spaces EDIT

Here you can tick all the rooms that are shared then below you will see

==>Shared spaces and there is a box that can be ticked entitled ME.  There are other options too and one of them is "shared with other guests" - Is this box ticked maybe?

Hope this corrects this anomaly,

All the best

Hello @Joelle43 ,

I ticked "ME" only, but it shows "Other guests may be here".

Oh bother!  This could be a bug with the new "rooms" category that was launched this month and in which you now find yourself in.

I did a search for your area in the room category and your listing says that you offer single beds or a double bed so this may have confused the Algorithm that probably decided this meant that other guests might be there??

There is a new listing in your area that is also listed as a B&B but it shows that the listing is shared by the owner and their family.  So it might be worth trying to remove the photo of the double bed and just leave the photo of the two singles and mention that they can be pushed together and see if this changes something?

If not you can give feedback on this issue as it's important for you and call customer service to see if they can do anything or message them and get whoever you speak to, to open a ticket so that there is a trace of the problem that you are facing and so that they send it to the tech department.

Good luck!

Joëlle

I had this @Eyal11  after the latest Spring changes and had to call Airbnb and ask them to remove it from my listing. They have.

I wrote to Airbnb support, they said that they will fix it soon.

I have the same issue with my listing and have fiddled with the boxes you can check to no avail.  It's impossible to make it say 'host lives here' instead of 'other guests may be here'.  Rather than rely on an algorithm I would suggest that us hosts should be able choose between two boxes that say those two things.   I hope the moderators will pass this on the the code writers.

I have added this wording to my listing:  "I only host one guest (Please ignore the "other guests may be here" label, I can't get rid of it, and it's not true.) It's just me and my husband who live here and you will be in our guest room."  Feel free to steal it!

I have had exactly the same issue @Helen56 @Eyal11

I called Airbnb to report this They did remove this BUT they also removed me from the room category and put me in the 'place to stay' category.

when I complained they put me in the 'place to stay category' they moved me back to the 'rooms' category and once again the label 'share with other guests' has appeared  so I am m back where I started

Didn't work for me.
but if I remove all options (Me, Roomates, My family, Other guests) it shows: "Host’s roommates live here" a better option at least
