Hi everyone, I'd like to swap my flat in Santiago de Compostela ( Galicia, Spain during July &August for a place from mid December -March on the coast in The Canaries, Andalucía, Murcia, Cyprus.Alicante, Valencia , Castellón , Algarve, Mallorca, Menorca, Sicilly. I want to scape to a sunnier area while you may want some fresh air in the heart of summer.
Hi @Carmen1528,
Your idea for a flat swap sounds amazing! Santiago de Compostela in the summer for a sunnier spot in the winter is a great offer. There are a few websites like HomeExchange or Love Home Swap where you can list your flat for a swap and find others looking for similar exchanges. You might also want to post in Facebook groups that focus on accommodation swaps in the regions you're interested in.
Good luck finding the perfect sunny escape for winter!
Thank you very much @Hugo990 , I appreciate your advice I heard about the online sites to exchange houses, I am just trying to save money as in order to join them there is a yearly subscription fee, that only may be worthy if you take more than one vacation per year. I believe Airbnb could have this service for hosts. Best regards !
Hey @Carmen1528
There are some free alternatives and low-cost options to house-swapping sites that you can explore if you're looking to save money. Here are a few:
HomeExchange (Free Trial): While it does have a yearly subscription, HomeExchange offers a free trial period, allowing you to test the service before committing to a paid subscription. You can join for free initially, and only pay if you decide to finalize an exchange.
People Like Us: This is a global house exchange platform that offers a free membership option with limited access to the full features. It’s a growing community and may allow you to explore options before deciding if you want to upgrade.
Facebook Groups: There are many home exchange or house swap Facebook groups where people post about swapping homes informally, without any subscription fees. It’s more informal, but worth checking out for direct exchanges without a middleman.
Craigslist: In some regions, people post house exchange or home swap listings on Craigslist under the housing section. This is another free platform but requires a bit more due diligence in vetting exchanges.
These free or low-cost options can help you save money while exploring house-swapping alternatives without having to commit to annual fees upfront.
Thank very much again Hugo, the extra info is going to be very helpful. You are very kind. Best wishes !
@Carmen1528
I use homeexchange.com since 2006
The subscription fee is only USD 220 per year
Thank very much @Bob297, is good to hear from people who have been users of this website. Best regards!
Hi @Carmen1528 , A sunnier escape is always tempting during the summer. Have you found any leads yet?
@Hugo990 has also shared relevant advices below. Have you had a chance to explore those platforms?
I'd also recommend you to post in our Spanish speaking community center to see if hosts are interested to connect!
All the best!
Thank you very much Bhumika.! Kind regards!
