I am trying to get a refund from Airbnb for damages done to my property by a guest in Dec. Airbnb has been horrible to deal with especially your staff member Mia. She won't accept a written confirmation by the guest that they had damaged my property. She then told me I need to fix the damages and provide invoices instead of f quotes. I had told her that I would prefer to get a refund first. since then I have fixed the damages and she is not saying that the damages are not extensive and she won't refund me the money. She has been horrible and a real bully who has been forcing me to accept a refund which is not right. She is very insensitive because she said the damage was not extensive, To her maybe when someone scribbles on your brand new house its fine but to me its not. I have asked her numerous times to transfer my case to someone else but she won't.
@Esha266 Many hosts have reported a prompt response when they used TWITTER to contact Airbnb.....
I am watching this post closely. It's only a matter of time before a host's house is damaged by a guest.
AirBnB advertises their insurance policy vigorously - I'd hate to see a host having a hard time collecting on it.
@Robert4820 Airbnb advertising their host guarantee and the reality are two quite different things. Experienced Airbnb hosts know that the host guarantee is a joke. No host should ever rely on it- hosts need to have their own private str insurance.
Out of interest what was the extent of the damage?
Quite a lot it seems from the review:
I have not charged you $5700 for the rack so please stop once again with your dishonesty. Here are the reasons why. : 1- She booked in for two guests but had 5 people staying . When I asked her to change her booking she checked out on the day as I complained to Airbnb. 2) Upon inspection of the place we found walls scribbled on, scribbles and stains on my couch , carpet and marble coffee table. Along with dents on my walls.plus her kids stock stickers on my walls which have peeled the paint 3) she vacuumed something that was wet and my new dyson blew up . 4) rubbish had not been taken out in two weeks and there was maggots in my kitchen. My house was full of flies and dirt. 4) she broke dishes and my stove had not been wiped in two weeks . Let’s not talk about the food in the fridge. 5)She also seemed to have done a shopping from my pantry which is bare now along with taking olive oil . Who takes olive oil! 5) I have since had my house commercially cleaned and rugs shampooed as it stunk from all her cooking . 6) along with the broken clothes rack she tried to hide 7)Chang is a very dishonest guest who has no respect for anyone’s place or responsible for what her kids seems to do in someone’s house. No one should find their home in a state that she left mine . I have never had a guest as filthy as her nor have I ever written a bad review on a guest but I felt I had to as other hosts should he warned about her . This is why I have claimed the amount I have from her . It’s not for the rack as she lies about . I hope you learn cleanliness, respect for someone’s home and honesty after this Chang . Thanks Esha
