Like everyone else, my rental income has been severely affected by Co-vid 19. Unfortunately, all areas of travel and hospitality have been affected, and while I am not happy about it, there is not much that can be done about it.
I was grateful to receive information from AirBNB advising they would pay 25% of cancellation fees - at least it was something. However, I now have the issue that my guest cancelled the booking and didn't state it was due to Co-Vid 19, and even though our correspondence trail through the AirBNB platform clearly shows that this is the reason for the cancellation, AirBNB refuse to pay, and say it can't be amended. Why am I being penalised for the action of my guest? I do not know what reason she gave - it might have been that the event she was attending had been cancelled, but the event was cancelled due to Co-Vid 19!! - so why am I not entitled to the 25% of cancellation fees. According to AirBNB they are unable to pay out, however I know they can pay out in other extenuating circumstances, so why not in this case, which is clearly a mistake on the part of the guest?
Is anyone else having problems with this?
