When the hosting key workers initiative was launched I thought the opportunity to charge a reduced rate would be a lifeline for me as air bnb is my only source of income/I’m now living off savings. Why did air bnb have to push doing this for nothing so hard? The platform is now flooded with free listings and although I live near a hospital there’s been zero interest in my listing at 50% off suggested price tip. I feel like my throats been cut twice by the platform, their latest email doesn’t even mention hosts can charge when describing the scheme “hosts providing stays for key workers for free”. Some of us really needed something right now, even nurses don’t help in this crisis for nothing, they have to live and so do we! Air bnb should stop shaming hosts into giving free accommodation a sizeable discount is a generous contribution every night!
