Do you follow any special traditions during New Year's Eve? ๐ŸŽ„

Hi everyone!

As you probably know, this is my very first post in the CC, and I canโ€™t even begin to explain how excited I am to be here! ๐Ÿฅน

This is the first of many posts that Iโ€™m sure weโ€™ll enjoy together, where weโ€™ll share our experiences and thoughts.

To break the ice, Iโ€™d love to get to know more about all of you! Christmas is here ๐ŸŽ„ (itโ€™s my favorite time of the year, by the way), and with it come so many wonderful traditions. In Spain, we have the tradition of eating 12 grapes 12 seconds before the clock strikes midnight on New Yearโ€™s Eve ๐Ÿ‡. Personally, I eat 12 M&Mโ€™s because Iโ€™m not a fan of grapes but hey, it counts the same right? ๐Ÿคฃ

So, now Iโ€™d love to knowโ€”how do you celebrate New Yearโ€™s Eve? What traditions do you follow with your family and friends?

I canโ€™t wait to hear your stories! ๐Ÿ’ฌ

Hi @Alex ,

What a fantastic first post! I love your M&Mโ€™s twist on the grape traditionโ€”itโ€™s creative and sweet! ๐Ÿ˜Š

As a Dane living in Sweden, I find myself navigating between both Danish and Swedish New Yearโ€™s traditions. In Denmark, we love to โ€œjump into the new yearโ€โ€”literally! At midnight, we stand on chairs and jump down to symbolically leap into the new year with energy and hope.

In Sweden, itโ€™s tradition to recite the beautiful poem โ€œNyรฅrsklockanโ€ (The New Yearโ€™s Bells) right before midnight. Itโ€™s often broadcast on TV, and many people join in from home. Itโ€™s a reflective and poetic way to say goodbye to the old year and welcome the new one.

Itโ€™s always fun to embrace a mix of traditions and celebrate with the best of both worlds.

Wishing you and everyone here a great start to 2025.

Best regards,
Karen

Hi @Karen4131! Hope everything is going well!

It's so cool and interesting to learn how people celebrate New Year in different parts of the world. Denmark's tradition really caught my attention! But when you think about it, it makes sense. ๐Ÿ˜„

We do the same as in Sweden; we watch the New Year's bells while eating grapes. It's a really special moment and quite emotional as you start the year with your family and reflect on all the good things that happened in the previous year. ๐Ÿฅน๐ŸŽ„

Where are you spending New Year this year?

Warm regards,

Alex

Hi @Elizabeth3641! Nice to see you here. ๐Ÿ˜

Thank you for sharing your tradition. I'm happy to know we share traditions. For me, it's the most special day of the year.

I love the way you know that Spanish sentence! Have you ever lived in Spain?
