Nature brings us so much. It is a source of food, emotions, and sensations, and gives us unforgettable moments. The more we know it, the more we feel the need to respect it.

Sustainable accommodation is at the heart of our concerns: to make our guests appreciate nature and involve them in its preservation. We offer simple and easy eco-friendly solutions to reduce pollution and preserve the environment.

Among the key issues in safeguarding the environment, we invite you to:

  1. Reduce waste
  • Provide reusable shopping bags for your groceriesStephanie_5-1629708541661.jpeg
  • Provide reusable water bottles, picnic cups and dishes for your excursions
  • Use a recyclable packaging bin
  • Recycle glass
  • Collect corks
  • Collect used batteries
  • Use a compost bucket
  • Use household products low in phosphates: household detergents, white vinegar, etc.
  • Use washable cleaning cloths
  • Use washing-up liquid purchased in bulk
  • Use a piston coffee maker and coffee filter washable in conventional coffee maker
  • Use a slate for the welcome note
  • Renovate second-hand furniture

  1. Save resources
  • Provide bicycles
  • Provide bus times
  • Provide Legrand Green'Up socket for electric vehicle charging (Referenced by ChargeMap)
  • Sign up with Eneercoop, cooperative electricity supplier, guaranteed 100% renewable
  • Use interior insulation for roofs and walls, double glazing for doors and windows
  • Use economical and efficient electric radiators with a thermostat
  • Use a wood pellet stove - carbon neutral combustion process
  • Use a thermodynamic water heater
  • Use Controlled Mechanical Ventilation (CMV) to renew ambient air
  • Use LED light bulbs
  • Set an hourglass in the shower to encourage short showers
  • Air-dry laundry and do non-iron folding
  • Have storm water collectors for the vegetable garden

  1. Upgrade local network
  • Local address guide
  • Purchase of used games and books
  • Donation of used dishes and linen to local charities
  • Local service providers for the summer season

  1. Preserve biodiversity
  • Have a Zero Pesticide Garden
  • Mow reasonably
  • Have an LPO Shelter
  • Have birdhouses and insect huts

Thank you @Stephanie for the translation to English. @Anne-and-Philippe0  you have written such a lovely post.

I agree with you on many of your ideas. The ones I probably acknowledge but wouldn’t do, are more climate related - being in a tropical environment. Lol…

No double glazing for us, but reflective paint on the roof, with our solar panels and solar hot water system.

We try to reduce waste where possible, so if we all work together, we can improve the environment, one thoughtful action or step at a time. 🌴

Hi @Anne-and-Phillippe0 for your article on saving the planet. One must keep passing on the information and ideas. We have introduced many of the items on your list. I have also put our manual a page for our guests to help us to save our environment in our cottage. Thank Stephanie for translating it.

It would be nice when Airbnb does something to with this. For example  an eco lodge/ house setting in the advertisement. Join the movement for a beter world. Show our guest how to live an other lifestyle that is very much enjoyable and still gives a holiday lux feel. We are doing it and the response is greet. One guest even told me her stay made her think and that she is going to make changes at home. How great is that! 😀
