Gig economy EDD

Hello,

Has anyone figured out what category is our "work type" when applying for Gig economy unemployment online?

Thank you in advance!

Hi you guys!!! We have not yet been able to access the site, perhaps tons of traffic causing it to glitch??? Unfortunately for us, our claim would be 100% un-funded, meaning all our income was derived from self-emplyment/gig economy. No W2 wages. Because of that we also don't know HOW SOON they'll open the site for filing claims under the special CARES/COVID19 act.

That being said, I used to work as a UI claims rep for the State about 10 years ago, so.... claim filing timing for which regulation your wages or your claim funding will fall matters. If EDD has a drop down menu for "work type", what options you see listed?

I just filled out an unemployment insurance application in Hawaii (haven't heard back yet).  But I'm worried - I thought hosts were going to be covered as "independent contractors" or self-employed individuals.  But now I'm concerned that we are not in this category, and that we or a family member actually has to have gotten the virus to get help.  Has anyone successfully gotten unemployment insurance benefits (and the extra $600 a week) as a short term rental host?  I have faithfully been paying all my occupancy taxes, so I have a record of income.
