First I would like to thank @Jenny who I think takes care of this section for reaching out to other hosts and encouraging them to respond to the questions I asked on a matter that was of significant importance to me.
Second, I would like to thank the hosts who responded. Your insight gave me a new and needed perspective. I was getting lost in the trees and very discouraged. Your answers helped me realize I lost the big picture.
Lastly, and certainly not least, Customer Service fixed what I thought was a huge glitch allowed for the wrong reasons. It was detrimental to all of us and I really thought they weren't listening. Lesson learned (be careful of taking influencer perspectives as absolute fact or even truth - they mean well but in the end, it is their perspective and all the reasons why are not necessarily fact checked).
All my life, every job I've ever had includes customer service; but none so much as when I worked in the healthcare field in patient accounts. I know as well as anybody what it's like to take calls all day where half the clients are unhappy or broke or both and so frustrated with the system, they have no other alternative but to take it out on you. Sometimes, it makes for long and depressing days that feel like you just can't seem to make a dent.
Thanks for fixing the glitch. I do wish you'd communicate better on the big issues. That said, your job isn't easy and as hosts, we couldn't get much done without you. So thanks for your efforts.
Tamara

I'm actually glad you asked because I have been doing a bit more review. And it seems to be moody depending on who is looking, but not entirely fixed as I thought.
My last booking was in October 22. And I was ok with that because I had upgrades that I wanted and decided to take care of them during the slow season. I did not change my status to inactive or anything like that as I kept everything up in case I did get a booking - this is during my first year in business.
March 23 rolls around and I go in and do everything Airbnb advertises for moving up the pages in order to get the ball rolling. After doing all of that, I ended up on page 8 with 85+ listings in front of me from other cities in my area and even some in the state next door WHEN i did a flexible search with no dates and 6 guests which is my capacity.
I contacted customer service who said they'd look into it and returned with 'it's the algorithm'. Upon further research, I learned Airbnb was saturated and doing it on purpose to keep their best hosts at the cost of everyone else.
Recently, a fellow host did the same search and didn't find any other cities before the search city requested. I thought it was fixed.
I did the same search again and found there were still a few but not nearly the 85+ and no listings from the state next door. So I went from page 8 to page 4.
I suspect that if you have multiple people from hosts to travelers and yourself do the same search for your specific city/town name and max # of guests with no dates, they will all get different results.

Oh oh oh, at some point I'll be asking more about your place in Scotland! As for the rest, well deserved and then some.
Thanks again!
