So disturbed & outraged that Airbnb have excluded my dear friend @susan17 from this community!
Susan is a real. Susan was here from the beginning. She is a SuperHost with most amazing reviews. Reviews of the kind we only could dream of. Guests all rave about her hospitality. She will arrange a taxi to go buy ANY THING YOU WANT. Guests on a weekend away, want her kind of hosting.
Susan is my friend. When my apartment was trashed by a party crowd and they threatened to kill me. They caused £12,000 damage. Yes I involved the police. But Susan reached out EVERY DAY to ensure I was ok! She is most amazing asset to this community! She cares about people! She cares even more about hosts!
I am disgusted that Susan has been excluded. This CC is turning into a police state.
No! Hosts need an outlet to express their frustration. Who are you admins to state a post is ‘negative’!
How dare you exclude a host who supported so many of us!!! Outraged! Absolutely disgusting you could turn against one of the most supportive hosts out there ! Total disgust that you hung @Susan17 out to dry!!!
Hello everyone,
I wanted to come back to you on our decision to restrict Susan's access to the Community Centre.
As mentioned in several topics elsewhere, the decision was the result of repeated breaches of the Community and Content Guidelines over the last 12 months.
We have been working and talking with Susan for a long time now both publicly and privately to resolve this, however it could no longer continue. Being completely honest with you, this was a really hard decision to make, one we really hoped it wouldn't come to.
We have enjoyed many conversations with Susan over the past few years and she is a very knowledgeable host, but, the way we act here has to benefit the overall health of the community we are all part of and unfortunately her contributions were no longer constructive.
I'm pleased to say that it's a very rare thing to happen in the CC, and as you can imagine it's certainly not nice for us Community Managers either.
This is everything I have to say on this, so I do hope it is helpful. Please feel free to contact me via CC DM or any of the Community Managers here.
Thanks,
Lizzie
P.S - I hope you don't mind @David6 I've moved this discussion to the Help Board in the CC–all comments remain.

@Collins8 Excuse me, you've just joined this forum, so I doubt you are particularly well-versed in the breadth of Susan's contributions to this forum over the years. And her posts re the workings of Airbnb were never personal rants- they were well-researched facts with sources cited and direct quotes. They were intended to enlighten other hosts and clear up misconceptions.
"Troublemaker" is a term that those who don't want shady practices exposed and discussed use to demean the efforts of whistleblowers who are disgusted with hypòcrisy, bad business practices, illegal policies, etc. If it weren't for those brave enough to speak up against these outrages, in many companies and govts, the big boys are able to screw over the little guys endlessly.
One of the VPs of Amazon just resigned this week in disgust with Amazon's having fired the whistleblowers among their employees who called out unsafe working conditions re COVID. At least some corporate execs, albeit hardly any, still have a conscience.
So what should it be used for giving FREE advice to hosts on a pro bono basis, so AirBnb can enrich themselves at hosts expense again...
I say with not a little embarrassment my IQ is considerable higher than 89 big red face now.
She's dead right about the crash and burn. After 12 yrs they've plateaued. If you can't turn a profit now it's another tech due. Always more marketing spend needed. Booking.com do $3b net profit, not EBITDA and not Airbnb EBITDA.
On "Listening Session: Kindness Cards, May 5th" topic you will find more details about this outrageous ban. Airbnb, @Susan17 should be back. We all know what you know. This is a public forum. She should not be banned for speaking the truth. If you don't want negativity (as you said in the ONE and only email sent to her a month ago) then treat host with respect and fairness. Dear hosts, there are so many issues at stake right now, and censoring is one of them. We need transparency from Airbnb. I would like Susan back. This is a personal matter Airbnb, we are really all of us a Susan.
I am terrible dissapointed (and i bet you too) that it wasn't point #3 or #4 from Susan's post as you thought, but THIS:
Susan got below email on Sunday telling her she was banned. She asked to share it with you all.
"This step is being taken in response to your repeated violations of the Community Centre guidelines and content policy, including your message that referred to another user as "a**e-licking tittle tattling" on April 3, 2020"
That one comment she made was the only "violation" that was mentioned specifically, and that was from a whole month ago. No dates, times or details were given in the email of any of the other "violations" she allegedly made, and no dates, times or details were given in the email of warnings received, or actions taken.
All they had to say was "Thank you for your contributions to the Community Centre over the years - we wish you the best. Thanks, Airbnb.
Often websites will tell the banned participant the most obvious and least arguable reason, but that is never the whole story. Usually, someone spreading such low moral will be watched be on someone's radar, and if you see other comments they indicate Susan has had several warnings. She is clearly a trouble maker, the kind who sticks her hand in boiling oil and then wants to put a bad review about the restaurant.
@Collins8 I can guarantee you that Susan's posts exposing the dirty underbelly did not spread low morale (which is the term I assume you meant, not "low moral") except perhaps for new hosts or those who erroneously believed that Airbnb is their "partner", values its hosts, makes sure you are covered for bad guest behavior and damages, etc. In other words, those who want to believe in the company's warm and fuzzy PR image of itself, instead of reality.
To the contrary, I think many hosts felt empowered by her posts- they made it clear that we were not alone in feeling unsupported by the company and gave the reasons why Airbnb does what it does. Much better, for example, for hosts to understand that no matter how hard they knock themselves out to acheive Superhost status, or tiptoe around fusspot, entitled guests for fear of a bad review or less than 5*rating, or update their photos, none of that will help them get top search ranking, because the places with top search ranking are the ones that put the most $ in Airbnb's coffers.
And I'd have to question why, since you are not a host at all, but a guest, and only started posting on this forum, you chose this topic to get involved in?
"You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inured, so hopelessly dependent on the system, that they will fight to protect it." (The Matrix)
Some of us prefer not to be a part of the Consensus Trance, @Collins8.
@Collins8judging by the fact that you clearly haven't been around here long enough--why don't you sit this one out?
Susan17 is a friend of mine. Unfortunately it appears you don’t know her, & seem to be totally uniformed on the subject as you just joined the cc recently? Some would class you as a troll?
susan helped many of us numerous timeS. Sometimes it’s wise to look in the mirror, before casting aspersions about someone you don’t have a clue about?
Everything needs to be seen in CONTEXT @Collins8 @Susan17 is Irish. When in Ireland, do as the Irish do.....

Do you honestly think that "Father Ted" is representative of the Irish people? well its like saying the U.K. larger louts and football hooligan is representative of the people of the U.K. with one exception the former is a comedy show and the latter isn't.
