Looking to rent a place for small, respectful, get togethers of 20 or less people. In the Southern California area. More of a meditative hippie crowd.

@Fletcher15  Airbnb is set up for overnight accommodation, and it doesn't offer hosts the features that would make their listings appropriate for events and gatherings.  You can try filtering your search with "Suitable for Events" so you don't have to waste a lot of time getting rejected. But instead of using Airbnb for this purpose, I'd suggest using a site like Peerspace, which is more in line with what you're looking for.
