What are you trying to understand by asking hosts to complete these questions @Sofia109

How are they specifically linked to superhosts?

They seem to be more more around how hosts feel about the Airbnb brand.

Hello @Helen3

Thank you for your interest in the topic. To summarise a bit; this study has the aim to evaluate if there is a positive correlation between the concept of gamification and Brand loyalty in P2P communities.

I'm conducting a research Thesis and the objective of the questionnaire, together with some other analysis, is to try to fill this gap.

Regards,

Sofia

Interesting questions, and very relevant topic, but I think you may need to provide a somewhat clearer initial explanation of the basis of your study, as very few hosts will understand the significance of gamification in Airbnb's processes, know what it means, or even be aware that it exists.

It may help to attract more contributors to participate, if you provide a brief explanation of gamification and its relevance to, and influence on, the Airbnb superhost programme in your introduction.

Best of luck! Do please let us know the results 🙂

Also, I did read that this is for your Master's thesis, are you conducting this study independently, or with Airbnb involvement? (The reason I'm asking is simply due to the inclusion of the Airbnb logo throughout)

Hello @Susan17

First of all thank you very much for your comments and interest in the topic.

Thanks also for the tip. You are right, the concept of gamification in Airbnb is not very clear for everyone in our community.  I explained the concept of gaming experience in the beginning of the questionnaire just in a line. I'm aware that this is not enough to give a full explanation of it, but unfortunately people are not always very collaborative when it comes to completing a survey. That's why I wanted to give a balance and don't write too much in the beginning, due to the fact that many people are skipping it anyway. (At the moment 50% of the people that started the questionnaire stopped answering after a few questions).

The study is conducted independently from Airbnb. I just had the possibility to add the logo in the template and I think it gives a much more professional look 🙂

As soon as I'm finished with my Thesis I'll share my findings with you. Thank you for the interest. For the moment I really love the fact that I'm getting results from all over the world.

This is the power of a community!

All the best,

Sofia

I don't think you should use the airbnb logo if the survey is not being done in partnership with them.

But check their brand guidelines for how it can be used @Sofia109

Hello @Helen3 ,

Thank you for the tip, Airbnb is quite flexible when it come to its Logo as they laverage on the fact that the community can increase Airbnb's awareness.

Anyway the Survey is not Airbnb Branded at all, I put the logo just to make people realise immediately the questionnaire is about Airbnb 🙂

Hi @Sofia109

Great to hear that you're getting results - I can't imagine how difficult it must be to entice people into complete any survey!

I do understand what you're saying about being limited in the amount of information that you can put in the introduction of your actual survey, but I'm thinking that perhaps if you started a thread which gives a brief synopsis of what gamification is, and its relevance to brand loyalty/commitment, particularly in the context of Airbnb, that might pique readers' interest a lot more, and perhaps even persuade them to collaborate on your survey? Maybe worth a try.

It is a fascinating and very pertinent  topic, for sure, and one that deserves to (and should) be discussed widely, particularly as so many are wholly unaware that they're being "gamified" on a daily basis. Having completed your questionnaire myself, I'm very much looking forward to hearing your findings (I do have my own thoughts on the potential outcome, but I'll keep them to myself until you've finished your thesis! :))

I have read some very interesting studies and research articles on the effects of gamification in Airbnb. I'm sure you've probably seen them all by now, but feel free to PM me and I'll end you what I have, just in case I might have anything of interest to you.

Here's a previous thread from here in the Community Centre relating to the subject..

Hi @Sofia109

I just completed your questionairre.

Don't know is deliberate but there is a "hole" in your how long have you been hosting question -

less than 1 year

2 - 5 years

ie nothing for between 1 - 2 years which is where my experience lies.

Regards

Hello @Rowena29 ,

I really missed that thing with all the variables and items that i had to take into consideration....Thank you for pointing out, but unfortunately I can't change it anymore. I won't take into consideration this answer unfortunately. I'll consider the second option between 1 and 5 years as a bigger group.

Kind Regards,

Sofia

@Rowena29 , @Helen3 ,@Susan17

Thank you for your comments and interest in this post. If you get to know other Hosts  could you please share the questionnaire with them? I would really appreciate your help. As my target group is very limited, it takes a lot of time to gather enough data for the analysis.

All the best,

Sofia
