Joe Gebbia cannot remain on the board

We are Airbnb hosts of 7 years standing and rely heavily on bookings through this platform to supplement our often inconsistent agricultural income in rural Australia . However, I cannot be part of an organisation that supports, through its board associations, what is rapidly making itself known as a fascist regime. I am researching alternative booking platforms - any suggestions?

I wish I had answers. I am just as angry as you are and in case it makes any difference at all, I add my voice to yours to call on Airbnb to remove Joe Gebbia from the board unless he immediately ceases all involvement with DOGE and the Trump administration.

I've been a Superhost for many years and this is the first time I've been concerned about my bookings. I'm from Toledo, OH and have had several bookings cancel already and not my whole month has no bookings. One guest rebooked through VRBO/Homeaway, but this is just the beginning of what's to come. Shame on Joe Gebbia for spitting in our faces on his high pedestal. I'm meeting with several realtors and my tax advisor this week to look at my options or just rent it full time if this keeps up.

We echo your concerns and are so upset with this news! We're making an ASAP move to get over VRBO which we used to work in tandem with but now due to this its going to be full time. Honestly we've had some pretty shotty aid with AIrBNB support the last few years anyways with bad guests (They're siding with guests and not equally here for the host anymore. They use to be really great for both sides but not anymore). I would like to say this was the last straw but this is so huge even without the past issues we would make the same move.

I am reposting to every related thread. Please be fully informed before advertising a boycott. Thanks!

Before you're tempted to boycott...

Don’t throw out the AIRBNB baby along with the bathwater!

Take action, but please DON’T BOYCOTT! There’s something else you can do. Otherwise, you’ll hurt DISPLACED PERSONS in need of housing and mom-and-pop HOSTS like me. Read on!

CONCERN: Joe Gebbia, co-founder of Airbnb, has just joined DOGE. There are loud calls to boycott Airbnb. But…

KEY BACKGROUND: There are TWO Airbnb companies: .COM and .ORG. Notice that the second is a not-for-profit company. ORG provides FREE housing for displaced people all over the Globe – Ukraine, LA fires (19,000 people so far), Southeast Georgia floods, Greece earthquakes, and many others. Hosts can contribute $$ or their rental unit to help fund it. Check out their website.

GEBBIA: He’s the Chairman of .ORG. He stepped away from any executive role at .COM years ago, though he is still on the board and an 7-8% owner.

TAKE ACTION: Skip the boycott and continue to help others who are desperate, and go right to the top. Tell the other co-founders you want Gebbia removed from the .COM Board and the leadership team at .ORG. Email Brian Chesky - the Chairman and CEO of .COM, as well as Nathan Blecharczyk - Chief Strategy Officer of .COM. (See email addresses below.)

Boycotts are effective, but so is deluging leaders with our opinions. The latter doesn’t hurt those who are being helped.
