Joe Gebbia joins DOGE

Hi everyone,

Is anyone else concerned that Joe Gebbia has joined DOGE?

Does he still earn income from Airbnb as a board member? This makes me very sad as I can't support a guy like that.  I really like the service airbnb provides and the ease of use for a host.

Anyone else feel the same way?

Yes, very concerned. I also really like the Airbnb platform and I am also very sad . Looking into alternatives. Have you found any?

I have used booking.com in the past and did not like the platform for a variety of reasons.

I am going to download and see how VRBO works and then slowly transition to that platform as I have booking for months now.

I hope Airbnb responds and Mr. Gebbia resigns his position......

How very disappointing for a platform that is supposed to be inclusive of diversity.

People are looking into www.houfy.com as well

www.houfy.com is one.

www.flipkey.com is another.

Someone else is talking about booking.com but that seems a bit different.

Anyway - its sad.  I am a host of 12 years and a Superhost and I will be looking to list elsewhere unless they lose Joe Gebbia fast.

Booking.com is awful:(

They don't vet their guests.  You are completely alone if they do anything to violate your terms.  YOu pay their percentage after the fact.  It's not user friendly.

I was on booking.com and promptly got off.

Even more impossible to get ahold of someone to help with an issue.

Agree. Did not like booking.com

Have cancelled AirBNB, using VRBO and liking it. Very similar to AirBNB.

VRBO has no insurance and do not respond if there is an issue. I can't get off Airbnb until July. But, on doing more research, I found out that Joe Gebbia is only on the board and only owns 8% of the stock. Maybe Airbnb will ask him to leave the board.

Did you lose your Airbnb bookings? I am booked into August.

Joe Gebbia is on the board only. And only owns 8% of the stock now. I don't know where to draw the line.

thanks for the recommendations—i’ll look into them!

Joe left Airbnb in 2022. Under his co leadership, Airbnb significantly supported inclusion. Now he is working to streamline the user interface of Government systems, to save taxpayers so much money. He isn't responsible for Trumps policy on Dei and isn't implementing it even though he is in DOGE. He's no longer working for Airbnb anyway.

So what. You want to support alternatives to Airbnb like BookingCom now? Who have never supported inclusion like Joe's company Airbnb has?

Please do not hate on the ONE company who has led inclusion in home stays, because a former founder is now working on user interface design for the USA government?

Your hate and cancel culture is being directed at the wrong company. You are harming yourself, but also the company LEADING diversity and inclusion.

Please put down your pitchfork and support Airbnb, not harm them, and the poor hosts and guests.

Airbnb has zero to do with Trump anyway.

Target supported inclusion while it was beneficial to the company.  Rejected it when they thought it was no longer beneficial.  What corporations and people do when it isn't in their political or financial best interest tells you how principled they are.

Joe is showing you who he is and you're making excuses.  This tells me who YOU are as well.  Congratulations for being on the wrong side of history.

Working on a user interface to save the government money? You can’t be serious? The only thing he is working on is big tax cuts for his billions! Nothing doge is doing has saved any amount of money even worth mentioning and the negative ripple effects will be felt for years if not decades to come. You don’t overhaul a company or in this case all government agencies with a “chain saw”, it requires a sound mind and surgical skill - neither of which anyone at Doge possesses or even cares to possess because all they care about it their billions and how to grow them. The fact that he joined Doge means he has EVERYTHING to do with the current administration and regardless on what platform he may have built his company in the past anyone who continues to support it contributes to being a bystander of all the wrong currently happening. It’s like when someone gets beat up by a bully over and over again and a group of people are watching but not participating but they are not helping either. They think they are not doing anything wrong since they are not participating but they are doing everything wrong! Wake up and stop defending WRONG!

I'm with you 100%.  I, too am a longtime Superhost and I'm super upset about this.

Guess it's VRBO for me!

Why can't these people use their money for good! So much good could be done. Especially now. Why join him? It's time to be the antidote!
