Mattress Advice

Hello Fellow Hosts,

I am in the process of getting my 3rd rental ready for renting. I need to purchase 2 king mattresses.  I have queen serta perfect sleepers - plush Hybrid in my other units and my guests love them! Unfortunately, I cannot find this model or anything that seems similar.

Any advice you can offer on brand and/or type would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Angela

I don't bother anymore with expensive mattresses (although I don't buy the cheapest ones either) as I found that after adding the thickest mattress toppers I could find, i.e. 4"/10cm ones, my guests love the beds and always comment on how comfy they are regardless of which mattress I have. The extra advantage with these is that they add an extra layer of protection (in addition to the mattress protectors which I put on top) in case of any spills or stains. The mattress protectors being so thick means they won't fit easily in even a large domestic washing machine, but they are machine washable, so you can take them to the laundrette.

@Angela2463  @Huma0  I think each country has its own brands of mattresses, there are discounts and there is market research which of them are the best or optimal. The main thing is a protective mattress cover, here it should be perfect!!! Do not make noise, do not rustle, do not make wrinkles, protect from moisture and stains and be compact to put it in the washing machine.
I haven't found this wonderful variant on American Amazon, but I will bring here links to European large Amazons, in case other hosts will need it.
Before that, I changed two different options, more expensive in price, but this something perfect!

I'm no expert in mattresses. I didn't have a huge budget whenever I have bought them for the guest rooms, but did not want to buy cheap, nasty ones either as I think it's a false economy. So, I bought some of the lower priced ones from John Lewis as I've found their products generally to be good quality for the price.

I agree that mattress (and pillow) protectors are a must. It's annoying to have to replace spoiled bedlinens, but spoiled mattresses is another matter! However, they don't add much in terms of comfort, whereas the extra thick mattress toppers have really transformed my beds. Since I got them, most guests rave about how comfortable the beds are now. Even those super fussy guests who complain about numerous things admit that the bed is very comfy!

The toppers I bought are from a company called Groundforce, but I got them discounted via voucher deals. Unfortunately, they are difficult to fit even into my 8kg washing machine as the are so thick. A trick I learnt though with bulky bedding is, if you have a bathtub, first soak the item in the tub, wring out as much water as you can and then it fits more easily into the washing machine. I did this recently with a very thick Superking duvet that I had never been able to fit in the machine before.
