So I'm sure you all have received the notice about a new STR permit that is required that is in addition to the TOT permit. All hosts have until March 31, 2020 to apply for the permit.
I spoke to a representative at the TOT office and they indicated the fee will be charged annually from here on out. If your property is professionally managed the fee is $200 per year and if you self-manage the fee is $337. You are required to set up an appointment with the local fire department to have your property inspected. If you have a wood or gas fireplace, it has to be inspected/certified by a third-party within 12 months of the fire department inspection. Though I know the STR permit fee is charged every year, I'm not sure if the fire department inspection is required annually. I have a call out to the STR representative to find out (Kelly at 530.581.6234). I'm also unsure how long we have to get the fire department inspection completed. Their first availability is April 1, 2020.
