Hello everyone,
A warm welcome to the Community Center.
This discussion is for introducing yourself to your fellow Airbnb Community members, as well as welcoming and saying hello to newcomers in return. Thanks to all of you who have already introduced yourself and contributed in our previous thread, here.
I'm Lizzie and I am the Community Manager here, along with my teammate @Quincy. I have been managing the Airbnb Community Center since it officially opened in November 2015. It is fantastic to speak with amazing community members here.
To kickstart this topic, I would like to share a few things about myself:
How about you? Any interesting facts or hobbies?
I'm looking forward to hearing from you.
Lizzie

Hello everyone! I am Michon, and my partner in crime is Matt. We have been hosting for the past 19 months in Saint Paul, Minnesota. We absolutely love hosting and hope to expand our listings with more properties in the future.
We love to travel, a passion born from being the children of retired flight attendants 🙂
Our childhoods were blessed with the ability to travel really cheap and explore foreign cities with our mothers that we wouldn't probably have chosen on our own.
We love animals, particularly dogs, and a perfect day would include getting outdoors with our four footed friend on a sunny spring, fall, summer day! Winters, while beautiful in their own way, are not our favorite. We live in the Bold North, and have for the majority of our lives, so snow and ice have worn out their welcome for us 😉
We also love people! This is one of the reasons hosting has been so great. We get the opportunity to meet interesting people without even leaving our home.
So glad to be a part of this community and if I can help with any advice or questions, I would be happy to do it! Cheers! Michon
Hello all, I am Anthony Sandy I run an airbnb on the island if Tobago located in the caribbean. I look forward to the discussions here in the community.
Welcome to the Airbnb Community Anthony!
Hello, I’m Ann. My partner Brian and I have a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom house in Marlborough New Zealand we let out via Airbnb. We live in a separate house across the road which is very handy. Marlborough is a large wine growing region so people mostly come here to explore the vineyards and taste the amazing wines. We have been running our Airbnb since January last year and have met some really interesting people.
Brian and I both love to travel and we both love to mountain bike and ski (amongst other things). We are retired and making the most of life while we still have our health. We have 4 beautiful grandchildren and a 5th due in August. They all live in Auckland (a 1.5 hour flight away) so we visit there often. We plan to visit Vietnam in our winter this year.
Hello All!
It's so refreshing to join a community that shares a passion for hospitality and hosting others in our homes.
My name is Brendan and I currently live in Dallas, Texas. My girlfriend and I are expecting our first child together and we couldn't be more thrilled!
A little about me....I grew up in South Florida and relocated to Texas in 2011 to open and manage a martini bar. I have a deep love for all things hospitality and all things fun which leads me down the path of hosting and learning more about the AirBnB community. Specifically, the reason I am here is to learn more about co-hosting and how I can become an even bigger advocate for AirBnB. If anyone can point me towards any resources in the Dallas area that would be a benefit, I would greatly appreciate the help.
Thank you again for the kind welcome and I look forward to becoming a more invested community member.
Here's to learning about this wonderful industry and company and serving as many people as possible!
Have a great day guys! : )
Hello Everyone!
I'm new to hosting and to the community. I'd like to introduce myself.
My name is Fran and I live in Missouri. I retired two years ago from Software Consulting and just listed as a host a month or so ago.
I enjoy travelling and intend to use the proceeds from our little cabin as a vaca fund. I was born in Australia, grew up in Miami, FL, lived in Africa for 17 years and now back in MO where I went to college.
I'm very active and enjoy water aerobics and walking. My hobby is birding. We live on 26 acres of woods and get to see beautiful birds that we feed, and others that just fly by. We also see lots of wildlife.
Nice to meet you!
Fran
Hi! I've been hosting for almost 3 years now, but hadn't posted on the community forum yet! Big fan of air bnb, I believe it's changed the way people travel. Nothing like making a reservation at someone's apartment through an app from the other side of the world!
In Chile I've had a very good exprience so far and I'm hoping to share what I've learnt with other hosts!
Hi, i have a small, budget, airbnb on the coast of the wonderfully quite town of geraldton in western australia.
We seemed to be blessed with great winds for windsurfing, great beaches and sime awesome sporting teams.
This leads to a pretty high demand and in my first few months chugging along and about 89% occupancy , trying to keep that 4.8 star rating... and so far with right blend of begging / awesome service i am hitting it just, and hoping to dodge any unjust bad reviews that are i guess eniviatable after a long time, but heres loving the ride while i starting
love the tips on here and the family feel, and oh yeah and the gossip
Hi
We started hosting late last July and that partial season was a perfect way to start. San Juan Island is mostly a summer destination, though spring bookings steadily arrive. The space we rent is separate from the house, above the workshop - a studio with full kitchen. Small, sunny, soothing (no ruffled pillows.) People mostly come to the islands June through September, then the rest of the year not so much.
We built everything at our place and do things with our hands. We have lived on this property for more than 30 years. In summmer, Harry busks with manodolin and limberjack, and at home plays guitar and percussion. Lee plays old-time music for contra dance on piano, accordion and whistle, guitar for singing old folk tunes and some ethnic accordion music.
Harry makes and sells wood things and restores black-powder cannons. Lee makes and sells jewelry and knit items, and spins and dyes wool. There are egg chickens, bees, a cat, a pony and a horse. Lee is the rider. Harry tends the gardens, greenhouse and orchard, is the soft and hard cider maker, as well as the vegetable guy and beekeeper.
There you go - our introduction.
Lee and Harry
Mabuhay! I'm Mariel from the Philippines. It's pretty cool how Lizzie and I have the same profile in her three mentioned facts about herself.
1. I love traveling (duh) but I'd really rather prefer the cold seasons since hot is all we have here in the Philippines! Hahahaha!
2. I play a number of instruments too! My confidence used to lie on my piano skills but now it's more of singing I guess.
3. It's also been around five years since I started a more green/sustainable lifestyle because of my college organization, the UP Marine Biological Society. It's a skin diving org that has environmentalism as its backbone.
4. I love baking, cookies in particular. I cannot bake pastries made in pans to save my life 😞
I've always wanted to offer our house as an Airbnb unit but it might be a bit too far from the malls and stuff, but it's still a good spot since it's quiet and still has all the necessities. I've loved staying in Airbnb units since it literally is a home away from home. So far, I've only traveled with my family and we love how we can cook and have our meals together in the dining area or chill in the living room. These things aren't always possible when opting for a hotel given that they're priced higher though with less amenities. I look forward to staying with you in your different corners of the world!
This is very cool, @Mariel48. 🙂
I play the flute and piano, but I am very bad at the piano. It's just nice to enjoy music and it's great that you sing lots. What kind of music are you in to?
I'm very excited to hear you have a lot of knowledge on green/sustainability. We have a couple of topics on this here in the CC, including this one on plastics and also one I've just posted on energy saving home products. Would love to hear more from you on this and any great topics you can think of.
Welcome to the Community Center. I hope you enjoy it here.
Lizzie

Hi. My partner Tim and I live in Kohatu in rural Nelson, just off of State highway 6 in the Top of the South Island in New Zealand. We have our self contained Airbnb Studio on our same property as the main house and its situated on just under 4 acres. Beautiful country views. We also have a digger hire business that I run from home and the Airbnb Studio we started nearly a year ago. Tim works fulltime away from the house and then on weekends on the digger for people if needed. I enjoy meeting people from all walks of life and from all over the world. I enjoy sharing our patch of paradise. We have 2 dogs that are part of our family. Our area is amazing where we are not far from Nelson Lakes National Park, Kahurangi National Park, Rainbow skifield, Great Taste Cycle trail on our road and further away Abel Tasman National Park. We work 7 days a week, so dont get the time to travel unfortuneately but hopefully one day we will get to. I enjoy gardening and also taking our dogs to the river, which we have private access to right off of our property! I enjoy reading all the good tips from other hosts.
Hey Friends,
I am in Phoenix, AZ. I just started hosting since last week and I already have guests lined up for this week. Phoenix is a up and rising city. People come here from around the world and also from other cities of the country. They need affordable accommodation. I believe in shared economy and find that Airbnb is a great platform both economically and technologically.
I look forward to get connected with Airbnb hosting peers through this community.
Cheers!
Sri
My name is Lida, pronounced Lidia, and I live halfway between Buffalo and Rochester, NY. I am brand new to hosting Airbnb Social Experiences, but I am looking forward to sharing my passion for rescuing Draft Horses at Roanchar Ranch Draft Horse Rescue and telling our residents' stories. I am very interested in connecting with other hosts in Western New York.
Hello!
We are awaiting our first guests who will arrive next week and we’re so excited! I’m still trying to understand how it all works but in the meantime we’re making sure The Mermaid is in good order for our guests.
We live in Gary, IN USA in an eclectic little neighborhood called Miller Beach located at the southern most tip of Lake Michigan.
