Welcome to the Community Center! 👋  I'm @Elisa , one of the Community Managers for our English Community Center along with my lovely team members @Quincy @Paula @Rebecca @Bhumika @Alex @Emilie and we are thrilled to have you join us.

Let's kickstart this thread with a little about us Community Managers:

@Quincy : I'm from the Netherlands 🇳🇱 I have been on the Community Center for 7+ years, and have been an Airbnb Host myself. I love cycling🚲, playing football⚽, and travelling🌏 . I love how dynamic and diverse the Community Center is as we meet Hosts from all around the globe. 

@Bhumika :  🌍 I was born in Gujarat, India 🇮🇳 , and shifted to Toronto, Canada 🇨🇦 last year! 📷 I recently realized my love for photography and aesthetics. I love to capture mundane life and candid pictures. 🌆 When I'm not working, you'll find me binge-watching thriller movies or exploring history.

@Paula : I am from Colombia 🇨🇴 and currently living in British Columbia, Canada 🇨🇦. I have a passion for Latin American culture (I love to dance 💃) . I've had the opportunity to visit around 20 countries 🌎 and plan to visit many more. In my free time, I enjoy outdoor activities, especially mountain biking 🚲 and hiking 🏔.

@Rebecca : I'm from Cardiff in Wales originally but being a military child and a veterans spouse, I've travelled and lived in a lot of different places in the UK and Europe. I'm an environmentalist 🌿 and like to minimise my impact on the planet 🌎 as well as volunteering in my local community.  I love sea swimming 🌊 yoga on the beach 🧘‍ and I'm a children's yoga instructor too! 🙌 

@Elisa : I was born in Italy 🇮🇹 and as a lover of unique experiences—from exploring the streets of Rome🇮🇹 , Paris 🇫🇷, and Toronto 🇨🇦 to appreciating timeless art and cuisine—I'm here to blend the old with the new. 

@Alex : I'm originally from Spain 🇪🇸, but my passion for traveling made me move to Toronto🇨🇦 this year to explore the culture and add another unforgettable experience to my journey ✈️. I'm also passionate about all kinds of sports ⚽️ (especially football, in which I played at a semi-professional level) and love to discover new dishes everywhere I go. 🥘

@Emilie : I was born in France 🇫🇷, raised in French Polynesia 🌺 and Morocco 🇲🇦, and have settled in the UK for 14 years now! On evenings and weekends, you will find me spending time with my dog, working on a jigsaw, or trying my hand at some new cuisine. 🍲

Thank you for including me, I apologize my response is tardy. My name is Abi, I’m a full time mom to 3 amazing boys, my eldest will be 13 soon, he’s non-verbal autistic. It’s important to our family that my works/passions can all be managed from home. When I first tried to rent my apartments to full time tenants, it was not working for us and just around the same time my husband and I booked an Airbnb in st Mary’s Georgia and the ideal was birthed that here is a good option! And so here we are a year later and loving our small but important part we play in contributing to the Airbnb community.

gracias por recibirme en la comunidad y por su mensaje soy de Costa Rica y vivo en la Ciudad La Fortuna y comense ed casi 01.12.2024 ,todo va bien hasta ahora ,y estoy aqui para conocer opiniones y experiencias de este negocio de los demas con mas experiencia , y se que al final los precios le dicido viendo la competencia local con casi lo mismo que yo alquilo,y hacerlo de la mejor manera solo que estuve con estas inquietudes del sistema de calificaciones de parte de airbnab pero ya me contestarun y ni modo se debe acceptar el sistema de algoritmo de ellos,pero me preparo por lo peor y espero lo mejor en ocupaciones ,gracias

Hello, my name is Sofia, and I'm a new host with my first short/mid term condo rental in Scottsdale, Arizona.  I've had rentals before, but they were long-term, unfurnished.  I decided to go mid and short term and become a host because it seems so much fun.  Yes, I know there's work involved to be a great host, but I'm looking forward to learning all about it and meeting people from everywhere!

I have problem with my payout, i cant receive my payout, even the case manager of airbnb doesnt know how to solve my payout problem. The case manager just closed the case of mine. So depressing.

My name is John. I'm new to hosting entirely. I've built a beautiful new house in a beach front community and am trying this out for the first time. My family have enjoyed this property for a few years before and after we built the house and we jetski, fish and catch crabs. It's a wonderful place and I'd like to start sharing this wonderful place with the public. 

However I am already frustrated dealing with my first chinese scam renter. I took very careful steps and decided it was not real, but a very very elaborate scheme, with a real passport (fake photo), real selfie and matching facebook page. Even local phone numbers. But after reading some of the community posts about experienced hosts, they were seeing the exact same strategy. I survived it, but I am already a little discouraged. At this point I don't trust the airbnb verification process. Particularly with international ID's (which is very hard to verify)

I seem to remember a few years ago when I tried hosting, there was a way to ask for a deposit from guests / you decided how payment works and whether to offer free cancellation? I can't seem to find any guidance on this. Can anyone assist? Is it now a "once size fits all" approach? Many Thanks
