Airbnb is not a place to voice your political views. It has nothing to do with it. This is only a place to ask questions about your listing get advice on it and learn from other hosts

@Diana2915 I wonder if Joe Gebbia would agree with you. The fact that he has taken up with the DOGE leadership certainly seems to be affecting many Airbnb guests and so will affect hosts. Question is will revenues drop by a significant amount - Only time will tell.

This is 100% the place to discuss how the actions of Board members and Founders are affecting our business. King Musk and his disciples are a direct threat to America and it's citizens.

Your president is the direct threat, to the entire world order.

@Fiona256  Is this new world order  or old world order  ?

Or covid order?  We certainly did have alot of orders during covid.

Is this order published like some rule book?

Can the order change or must it remain the same.

Do elections affect the order

Are questions allowed??

You are entitled to your opinion.  The fact that Joe Gebbia, an Airbnb board member and shareholder, has decided to work with and support the **bleep** Elon Musk and DOGE, is beyond egregious.  Airbnb used to have a good reputation for using the platform for righteous purposes including human rights (ex offering to have Afghan refugees stay in the Airbnbs for free).  Now that a board member is capitulating to an evil **bleep** focused on destroying our country, those of us who care about our country will speak up and speak out.

@Diana2915  I’m a little new to hosting with Airbnb and this site, but I’m not new to business.   I’ve enjoyed a full career in the hospitality and  restaurant business, and have been a landlord for many years in Los Angeles.  It surprises me the fear-mongering going on about the politics in America … especially with foreign hosts.   Wow… So what are you going to do, if a guests pulls up in a Tesla , and leaves Fox News on your TVs history, and an American  flag in your garden..? Will you block them, give them a poor rating?      The hospitality business training  101 is to serve diplomatically, your space should be bipartisan as well as  your people on site, messaging , all of it should be neutral …otherwise you risk  half or more of your potential business .
if you feel that strongly this may not be the business for you.   CEOs , Presidents, come and go… but your business should endure.   If you pay attention to the market, the demand and ride the waves.   You don’t need to lose your composure,  or character and behavior  because you can’t get past one person you dislike.   I hope everyone finds some peace and joy in what we are doing.  Good luck all.

That may be your feeling, but I received my first cancellation as a result of it this week. I will be looking for other platforms if Gebbia's choices are going to affect my business. Where else to discuss this if not in the Community Center?

@Nicole4040  you can bet airbnb is keeping track of this, they'll have all the data in the system and make their decision accordingly.

What I've seen in the media so far is alot of noise.

Do you want to lose guests/bookings? Because ignoring the collusion of the CEO of the company (that makes LOTS of money off you) with the actions of DOGE is how you lose your guests/bookings.   Think about the long term affects that this collusion has, on YOUR bottom line.

@Diana2915  I agree with you in general, in this case it popped up on CC bc it is directly related to airbnb and hosts claiming cancellations.  Also certain news outlets have piled on as expected and so it spreads around social media.

Airbnb is often in the news for other reasons this one is different bc people get real heated real fast.

You can bet airbnb is looking at the data in the system to see the impact on bookings, cancellations etc.  God knows they have all the data!  They'll make a decision accordingly.

What happens on this forum like X or facebook is people start posting their broader opinions on everything and before you know it's good vs evil etc etc.....social media is a terrible way to sort out political differences between people IMHO.
