Review of Guest Who Hosts as Well.

We just had a guest who left with an undisclosed guest. She wasn’t the problem she was actually nice and followed the rules. However the fee paying guest who held the reservation is a host.  This what she did. She removed the curtain rods from the walls, which is hard for they were professional installed, tore off two of the brackets off the wall, removed the curtains, hung our blankets over all the windows and damaged the rods in the process. I took pictures but I haven’t reported her yet. She just left today. My problem: she is our second reservation and I don’t want to leave a bad review but she isn’t someone I would want to come back. She is a friend of our neighbor as well. She also didn’t come clean to the damage until the last minute, blocked us from going inside to let us inside to see it before she left. She also used other minor issues, salt and pepper not to her liking and she couldn’t find the cutting board which was suspended over the sink to lead into the damage she caused. We got it fixed because my hubby is a professional

So how do I review her so others know in advance without getting in trouble with Airbnb. I guess I can respectfully try to review or let it go since it was easily fixed by my husband?

as a host I didn’t anticipate this knowing she knows our neighbor.

I'm Soo sorry you had this experience. You are getting some good advice here. Installing blackout curtains might save you a lot of heartache later, whether in damages from people improvising with blankets over the windows and bending the rods or in bad reviews. This is an easy, affordable fix and will probably save you $$ in the long run.

There are a lot of nice patterned curtains that would match your decor like these:

Calimodo Paisley Blackout Curtains 63 Length Blue and White Floral Grommet Thermal Insulated Room Darkening Window Drapes for Bedroom and Living Room, 2 Panels https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08TLWD3HY/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_BANXY2THYS20KSMDPTBM?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Just shop around & I'm sure you'll find something you would like. (We resisted this for the first few months of hosting as we had pull-down shades, but it's been great since we replaced them with black out curtains, and we get less "whiny" messages complaining about which patio lights are on or what time the sun rises from behind the mountain. )😅 🌄

I get what you are saying and maybe down the road I will consider this. Money is tight since we created a master bedroom en-suite upstairs from  nothing adding 609 square feet to this home. We updated the entire 122 year old home. The thing is we have had many others stay in this room with no whining. She reminds me of several friends I have who complain about slivers of light from around blackout curtains in the best resorts. They cannot handle even the slightest light so they come with sleeping masks and pins to tighten up gaps. She admitted to me she cannot handle any light whatsoever at all. And there is a bedroom downstairs with curtains with liners. She wanted the upstairs because it is a cool space. One person out of ten who didn’t ask upfront when she arrived for help as we told her many many times is not someone I will adjust for. My husband is a professional remodeler and a builder of airplanes and motors. He could have done whatever she wanted.  She is a host herself. She could have  reached out as she would have wanted others in her own listing .  She adjusted things she didn’t need to adjust. Switch rooms or call us for a quick and painless adjustment.

We have also provided individual wrapped sleeping masks. Those are available on request. Again she could have asked first. And then to not allow us to see the damage before she left blocking us from entering due to her undisclosed guest speaks volumes. I will leave a balanced review. I will state we won’t host her again.

I do appreciate your suggestions. When I find the right woven shades and have extra money I will have those installed.
