Schlage lock won’t lock and host isn’t responding

We’ve stayed in several Air B&Bs and are used to these locks. This one will not lock, even though we’ve followed the instructions to a t. I contacted the host over an hour ago and no response. We have concert tickets and we can’t miss the show. We grabbed our valuables and left, but I’m unsure of what else to do. It’s a relatively safe area but still not the “leave your door unlocked” type.  I don’t want a low rating or more importantly to come back to someone inside but again, what more can be done?
