Shoe on the other foot - I’m the upset neighbour!

I’ve been hosting guests at my own properties for a while and had little to no issues from neighbours - I’m genuinely horrified if a guest is disrespecting the neighbours.

 

I now find myself living next door to an Airbnb and up until now it has been as it should, a welcomed addition to the community. I love seeing new faces and saying hi to the guests, even helping them with queries about the rural surroundings and local restaurants.

 

However, just recently, there has been a small group of friends and their young children that have stayed and gone at the Airbnb next door. They did not respect me as the neighbour or my property at all - telling their kids to knock and push on my door, removing my mail (and returning it), looking through my windows, using my bins and attaching a mobile phone to my front door to take a group photo. This went on for several hours while I was out, my cctv picked up the behaviour. 

Now, my question is, what do I do? I’m willing to bend over backwards to accommodate this business. The owners live in the house behind ours. I have made contact and they seemed unconcerned, even dismissive. We live in a grade I listed building, any damage would require considerable outlay to rectify as it requires specialist contractors - I’m keen to nip this in the bud before it becomes a recurring problem.

 

What I don’t want to do is put up signs along the lines of “Private Property” or “Keep Out” etc as this would detract from the beauty of the area. I have considered a friendly worded letter to each new guest/booking advising of the boundaries, however, I feel this is make provoke the guests. I have asked the owners to put something in the welcome pack but my request was not acknowledged.

Why would you want to bend over backwards for this business if the owners don't listen to your concerns. @Matt4099 

 

Hopefully it was a one off but I would speak to the owners again and ask them what they intend to do to minimise the risk of it happening again.
