I posted a situation that I have had with the girlfriend of the actual Airbnb official account holder.
he explained they were relocating and needed a place for a month and a half while they search for an apartment of their own.
His girlfriend would arrive and he would join her later in the month.
If you want to read the situation I posted it under How often to cleaning & stock supplies?
My question here is do I review the demanding girlfriend & my interaction with her since she is the one who has been in the unit? I don’t want to give him a bad review but perhaps that’s why they used his account, perhaps she has Gad other problems in the past & her account has bad reviews?
she has been nit picky about wanting me to have our cleaning service come by and give her more paper goods & soap. It seams she is a bit of a compulsive cleaner & says she brought her own slingers because she washes the dishes between each meal and throws out the sponge. She must have used up more than 30 sponges a day (which she is ok with supplying herself but if she is washing that often then of couse she would run out of dishwashing liquid & hand soap before the month is over.
i don’t feel I need to supply her with more than I normally do for others based on what seems to be an obsessive compulsive disorder.
to what extent do I review this situation. She goes through 4 rolls of toilet paper within 2 weeks that normally last an entire month. & two rolls of paper towels.
it’s not her Airbnb account but I’m afraid if I don’t say this in the review she will be the one to review me on her boyfriend’s account and say that I don’t supply enough soap & other items.
i have never had this situation in over 10 years of hosting.
@Nancy1609 As @Huma0 said, you need to let your long term guests know what is supplied for initial use and that additional supplies would have to be purchased by them.
I state in several places on my listing for both short term and long term guests that they will receive starter supplies of paper products. I provide a new sponge, a single large roll of paper towels and an 8 oz pump of dish soap in the kitchen. Two rolls of TP in the cupboard and one wrapped roll on the holder and an 8 oz pump of hand soap in each bathroom. The soap tablets for both the washing machine and the dishwasher are left in their original containers, so there is always plenty as I would prefer that guests use what I provide and not some perfumed detergent.
An all purpose cleaner (safe to use in the kitchen and bath) and a furniture polish spray are in the cleaning cupboard -- this is just for guest use and rarely needs to be refilled.
You have an OCD guest. She should have been told after her first request for additional supplies that she is responsible for purchasing supplies for her needs. You have provided what is necessary and usual.
The review suggestion that @Laura2592 provided is perfect -- indicates neediness without slander. I would however, add "additional cleaning supplies" to ensure that the reader understands that you did provide cleaning supplies.
@Nancy1609 I would review the entire party. The booker should always be held responsible for all of their party.
@Nancy1609 Your review should be something like the following:
"So and so and his partner stayed with me for a month. Lots of communication about cleaning supplies and wanting extra items which are not normally offered. House rules were generally followed (if that was the case) but this guest group is probably better suited to a hotel with more resources than an individual host can offer. I wish them the best."
This is the first time I've seen a complaint about a guest being too clean.
While much of this seems excessive, like over 30 sponges a day(!), I am not sure why you would expect four rolls of toilet paper to last a month, especially as there were going to be two people there for part of the stay.
I am sure some people could get by on this, but I wouldn't be surprised if you've had other guests stay who simply buy their own after the four rolls have run out and don't mention it as it's no big deal.
As I'm a home host, I just top up the toilet paper as needed, but I can't ever remember having guests who only got through one roll a week (let alone two guests using only that amount).
Sorry, I know you were asking about the review and I say yes, go ahead and review her behaviour as she is part of the group he booked for, but you could also mention that his communication was good, as I think you said before that he wasn't even aware of her aggressive messages. I think @Laura2592 's suggestion is perfect though.
Back to the toilet paper, and cleaning supplies in general, as this doesn't seem to be a common problem for you with your other long term guests, I'd just leave things as they are. Or, you could just make it clear to guests (in your listing description, guidebook or check in if you do this in person) that you supply these to get them started and that the guests are responsible for buying any additional supplies they need.
Thank you
