Hi All- just some thoughts on Superhost status and how it is applied. My listing is in an area that attracts tourists, so there are many AirBnB and other STR listings close by. Many are managed "professionally", i.e. not by the owner. One can tell either by an obvious company name as host, or by an individual's name as host, showing up on multiple properties of which they are not the owner. There is one such person in this area managing multiple properties. Let's say this property manager is a Superhost for some of these properties. That means that the property itself is well managed and has achieved ratings high enough for Superhost status.
When that property manager manages other properties, that Superhost badge conveys and is displayed on the listing. Unfortunately, it's misleading in that some of the properties are rated WAY below the required Superhost numeric rating, and reviews reflect multiple issues that go on unresolved. I'm talking properties rated in the 4.4s and under, down to below 4, still displaying a Superhost badge.
How is this fair to guests? Suppose they have searched for Superhost-only properties, believing that this will result in a superior experience? If the property were managed to Superhost standards, then the ratings and reviews should reflect that. Conveying this Superhost badge to properties that are not managed to standard is misleading. I think that AirBnB needs to rethink the way this is applied and change the policy.
