I am unhappy that Airbnb will start mandating a 24 hour minimum wait time for reservations. https://theweek.com/speedreads/911155/airbnbs-new-coronavirus-measures-include-option-buffer-period-...
We use clorex wipes on all hard surfaces and bleach all linens (white) as well as re wash all cookware in hot water. There is not need to further hurt out income.
Yes I totally agree. This will be devastating to my place. Almost everything I do is one-day stays! It's like my niche! If I have to wait 24 hours after each one day stay I'll lose half! 😞
@John143 @Stephan-And-Skye0 we have already implemented a four-day buffer: 72 hours before cleaners enter, and another 24 hours before guests enter. Yep, we're going to lose a lot of money.
I am a huge fan of the beautiful mountain town of Julian and your listings are quite lovely, @John143 . I am surprised that visitors are coming at this time given the stay at home call through out California and given how vulnerable resort towns are to an influx of visitors during covid 19. But to your point, I wonder if the "buffer" time is attractive to guests. Would you be able to ascertain whether while the buffer might be problematic in normal times, is it a selling point for Air BNB. It has been reported that guests are leary of using hotels, where allowed, because of the same day turnover.
Couldn't be more attractive as the cabins are rented regularly as before. There were initial cancellations but a growing number of people are getting cabin fever and heading for the hills of Julian! Thx for the compliments too! #juliancabins
We put in our listing how we sanitize after each stay and so potential guests may decide for themselves. In fact we just had a Scripps Surgeon stay at our smaller cabin with his family! He was fine with what we were doing.
The waittime doesn't apply to existing reservations. go to the covid page on airbnb. They are releasing cleaning guidelines. If you agree to follow, or have cleaning people follow you don't have to have 24 hour wait. They are giving a short quiz to ensure you've read the suggested cleaning protocol, which follows CDC
Is it possible to put our own buffer in? I'd like to do 48 hours or even 72 hours between guests- but can't seem to find a way to do that.
go to calendar, block off any days you want
Edit your listing under Availability for preparation time. That should do it.
@Mike563 AsLinda sia, just change the Prep Time setting to block the number of day you want to leave free between reservations. But if you've never set prep time before, there's something to be aware of- the way that setting is worded is quite misleading. It will say "Block two days before and after a reservation", which makes it sound like you'd have a 4 day gap- 2 after Booking A and 2 before Booking B. But it actually doesn't work that way- the 2 day block after will double up as the 2 day block before.
So ignore the wording, and just realize that it should be worded "Block 2 days between reservations", when choosing how many days you want to leave between bookings.
