Traveling in Asia

Traveling in Asia

I wanted to see what others thought about travelling the area of Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia. We're thinking of going there, and wanted any tips and things to take in to considering when travelling there. Thanks

These are lovely places to visit, with terrific cultures, long and complex histories. The food, arts, natural wonders are unique and incredible to experience. I have created and led tours in the past years, and would offer you what I have encouraged in my friends, travelers, and myself. This is about not only appreciating what we find there, but honoring and respecting our host people and their country. First, learn about the history and culture of the region you are going to visit. Customs of dress and footwear are particularly important in Asia. Manners are different from other cultures and the food is as well. I always encourage learning some basic language, polite phrases, and basic vocabulary about important topics. Be curious about your encounters and what you find. Travel should always be meaningful, and respecting our host countries' customs makes that happen. Life is with people, someone said...

Definitely try all the local food @Matthew1986!

My favorite place to visit is probably the area around Mount Santubong in Sarawak, Malaysia. Beautiful beaches on one side and an incredible rainforest and mountain on the interior of the peninsula.

Did you have some stops in mind?
