UK new lockdown - refunds

Is everyone giving refunds? (I have several bookings which cannot go ahead.) That means hosts are taking the full brunt of a government decision. What about holiday insurance?  Or sharing the burden 50/50 with the guest? Or AirBnB giving both sides compensation.

I have seen this type of post before and it seems that Air BNB will uphold the cancellation policy of the host unless the place was booked before March 15th.  Presumably if a guest booked during the height of the pandemic, the guest was taking the risk all would be fine.  Not a good plan unless you have travel insurance that will pay.  Perhaps you could consider offering the guests a credit on future bookings in order to build future business.  Just a thought.

Regardless of your cancellation policy, The contract is frustrated as you are unable to host and by UK law they are entitled to either a change of date or their money back.  I understand that Airbnb are allowing Hosts and guests in Lockdown to cancel penalty free with complete refunds including service fees
