Uncooperative Host

Due to the extenuating circumstances and the pandemic with the CoronaVirus, me and my guest have decided to cancel our trip that was scheduled for 4/3-4/5/20. However, the host will not refund our money. I’ve reached out to several contacts with no help resolving the matter. Please, someone, help me, I will no longer use these services again and I’m sure to make my friends and family aware of this situation.

@Kyesha1  Refunds are handled by Airbnb, not by the host. Your host has not received your payment, Airbnb has it. Hosts don't get paid until after a guest checks in. So your host has nothing to refund at this point. You need to deal with this through Airbnb- they will determine whether cancellation of your reservation falls under the extenuating circumstances policy or not.

@Sarah977 I have reached out to Airbnb with no resolution. I've been advised to contact the host who is only pointing me back to Airbnb.

If this is the case You may just not get Your money back. Your host is not responsible for the corona outbreak. Your host may be faced with dozends of refund requests and if he or she refunds everything, there may just not be enough money left to pay the bills.
