What constitutes a yearly hosting award winner!

Congratulations to the recently announced winners of our state's hosting awards for 2023, well done to you all.

I mean no disrespect to your fine efforts but, to bring a bit of humour into it, over the past few years I have been perplexed by the selection procedure. Each year I am up there, hosting 150 + stays and getting close to my Airbnb goal of 250 hosting nights per year, with more than 90% of them ending up with a 5 star review. Within the next year we will hit 800 Airbnb reviews.......but consideration has never come my way!

Now after viewing this years award winners,  the penny has dropped......I DON'T HAVE AN OUTSIDE BATH!

So I will take this into consideration for next years awards, I am sure I can find a suitable spot in my garden to meet the required criteria.

@Robin4 I suspect you have to be perfect to achieve this accolade. As I am sure you know, striving for perfection will drive you mad so if I were you I would be happy recognising you do a great job with our some random award.

Hi Helen, each year Airbnb Australia have national awards for hosts and their listings.

And they have a state category as well. My slant on it is, of course, tongue in cheek Helen! Don't get me wrong, I think it's a great initiative, after all it promotes our best.....and that isn't something that Airbnb are particularly good at! They generally tend to concentrate more on what we do wrong rather than the other way round.

But the thing that struck me about this years state finalists and considerations, of the dozen or so, 4 of them featured a bath with 3 of them being an outside bath.

Here were the finalists...... 

Do you see a recurring theme here Helen.

Maybe if I can't organise a suitable location and plumb it satisfactorily, a situation like this might be able to get me a bit more noticed!!!

As I said, my post is purely tongue in cheek, I am more than happy flying under the radar, I have got enough pressure in my life to perform......

but don't be surprised if an old claw-foot pops up on the property somewhere!

@Robin4 , now you’ve got me thinking. I could turn our outdoor waterfall into a “caveman bathroom” and advertise the fire pit as an “outdoor sauna.”  Lol….

I am not sure the outdoor bath will be one of selected criteria ? Maybe it is coincident the most listings have outdoor bath tub.. it must be popular things in Australia recently. But when I looked all finalists I looked at their photos , listing description and the most key points is the reviews from the guests ! I went through each review in each listing, the reviews are the best evidences showing the host gives the best to the guest.

Yeah I know Sarah, my whole post was to have a bit of fun, you know yourself, hosting can be taxing and stressful at times and we need a bit of comic relief. And as baths did feature in a few of the finalist listings, I couldn't let the opportunity pass me by to rev the coincidence up a bit!

You wouldn't believe how much time it took to photoshop that bath cartoon into the garden scene, lots of it had to be done virtually pixel by pixel. But being here on the CC, being part of the Adelaide group and doing things like that at times is my way of putting balance in my life a well as being a bit creative.
