Why are people traveling from Russia banned from booking?

I live in Russia but am not a Russian citizen and I am not allowed to book a holiday (using a non Russian card) on Airbnb. Please explain to me how this is okay?

Yes and they just said that the option of renting an entire apartment is not available for me but I might consider a hotel or private room. I don't want a hotel or private room.

@Joanne749 the Airbnb explanation is, as ever, weird. This explanation would normally apply to a young person wanting to rent a large place near to there home and is designed to stop parties. It doesn't seem like this applies to you???

@Joanne749 I think Airbnb decided to go with geographical location rather than nationality of guests/hosts. I guess this is business decision that will catch 90%+ of their presumed intent to support Ukraine.
