Hi everyone, I’m Geo from London, UK. Nice to virtually meet you all! I have been air bnbing my flat out in Crouch End whilst...
Airbnb's website/platform is one of the worst I've experienced.
It feels like every time I click on something I have to walk away for coffee and by the time I come back, I forget what I was doing! It's SO slow. The calendar is a mess. The pricing is a mess. I have to click through a bunch of things to get to something so basic. And sometimes... I'll update prices and availability... and hit save and..... IT WON'T SAVE.
😐 You'd think a billion (??) dollar business would be able to have a website that works. And the burden of the torture is on the hosts which is probably why they don't care to fix it all these years.
I also experience very slow responses to any actions I take on the site. I've never seen a modern website with such a sluggish response. It feels like dial-up days.
I really have gotten so bad at responding to guests quickly because the website and the app are SO SLOW. As someone said before, they go and do something else while a page loads and then completely forget what they were doing by the time it has loaded -- that's exactly my problem! Has @Airbnb commented on this thread at all? I didn't have time to look through all the pages -- gotta go watch my page load so I don't forget what I was doing! 🙂
I totally agree that the website is way too slow, and I have a 2019 MacBook Pro, with intel core i7, 16 GB RAM. So it is not the hardware. Every time I want to send a message it takes about 10 min. Maybe should they consider making an application for laptops?
This website IS very slow. The round spinning disc turns a lot while pages load.
For those of us who have an overnight rental AND an "experience"... I would like to see better integration with airbnb listings and airbnb experience listings. I have both and it's a pain in the butt switching back and forth between airbnb and airbnb experiences. Can't they make it all seamless?
Also, why is it that I can attach a picture to a message sent to a guest on the airbnb phone app BUT I cannot attach a picture to a guest when I am using the airbnb website messages? That's crazy!
One last thing... Airbnb experiences SHOULD be able to opt OUT of instant booking! Currently, all experience hosts have absolutely no say in who attends their experience. Why can I opt out of instant book on my overnight airbnb listing but NOT on my experience?
It's late 2019 and I have very good hardware and an excellent internet connection. This is the only major website that lags for me, and clearly its a server side issue. It is frustrating and slow to the point I go to another browser tab. Sometimes, I forget to return to the website! That can't be good for business... I hope my user experience improves.
Hi I'm a full time software engineer with a very fast computer and I host on the side. This site sucks... very un-intuitive layouts, differs greatly from the mobile app version and it is super buggy and slow. NO excuse for a business that basically is a website to be so... crappy
I confirm. Airbnb website is slow!! it is unbelievable and enoying
DITTO DITTO, its become insanely worse. I can no longer update my prices reasonably. It takes the calendar several seconds to load for every single command. Its absurd, its not hardware...
@Drew--Neal--And-Aimee0 Consider yourself lucky- it takes about 3 minutes for mine to load for every command and half the time it freezes and I have to refresh the page, endlessly 😞
Hi Sarah977, Have you tried contacting anyone on Air BnB by landline or even by email to get to the bottom of this?
I HAVE SIAD FOR SO MANY YEARS THAT YOUR WEBSITE IS ONE OF THE DUMBEST I HAVE EVER USED. CLUMSY AND DOWN RIGHT STUPID. NOW IT’S THE SLOWEST AND YOU ARE BLAMING OUR COMPUTERS WHICH ARE PROBABLY NOT OLD AND TIRED BUT NEW. STOP IT AND FIX IT AND FIX YOUR WEBSITE.
I LOVE, TRULY LOVE AIRBNB……ONE OF THE BEST THINGS EVER FOR TRAVEL….

Sorry, John 1181 but no one is reading this except people like me who read for therapy!lol
Billion dollar company btw
Just chiming in here to debunk people saying the slowness is due to limitations on the client side:
When opening up a page as a host the TTFB (Time to first byte) is over 8 seconds.
TTFB means that your browser has made the request to AirBNBs servers, but it is taking the servers 8 seconds to respond.
For a company that does this much volume, and is heavily funded, that is pretty embarrassing.
Maybe invest in some proper dev-ops AirBNB?
Hi Rebecca1194, Wow! Thanks for the TTFB response! Didn't know it even existed. Goes to show reading this forum is not only therapeutic lol but informative.
Does anyone know if there has been any more recent troubleshooting around this? I also have a new, fully loaded mac book so it's not a software issue. It's on the AirBnB side. In addition, I have constant issues with the mobile app (calendar won't load, etc.). Any suggestions?!
