mystery alteration?

Hi folks,

I had a guest alter a reservation and the alteration was automatically accepted, but I can't figure out what was altered. I assume they changed dates a bit, but there doesn't appear to be anywhere to click on showing what the original booking was vs. what the new booking is, or what the alteration request was for. Any insights?

Thanks!

@Gil40 Alteration requests are never 'automatically accepted'. Updates and changes to bookings can only be made after you have accepted. When you are sent the alteration request, you review the requested changes, then accept, and the booking is updated. Or you can reject.

@Colleen253 It’s a long term booking that’s far enough in the future that they can adjust without requiring permission.

@Gil40 I see. You didn't specify that in your original post. Yet another of many reason I will never accept long term bookings.

The article does not answer your question, unfortunately. Maybe someone else who accepts long term bookings will chime in.

@Colleen253 With short term bookings if you, for example, accept a change in checkout date but didn’t keep a record of the original checkout date, is there somewhere on airbnb that you can see the original checkout date? With mine it just says in the inbox “alteration accepted” and there’s nothing I can click on or see.

@Gil40 With short stays, all alteration requests must be reviewed and accepted (or declined) by the host before becoming binding, so it's at review that you are able to see the requested changes. I'm not sure how you would see the changes in your situation, if they are not summarized for you by Airbnb.

@Gil40 search your email inbox for the original reservation confirmation or request, if you haven’t deleted it.
