Airbnb cancelled a booking?

I had a guest today that wanted to book for late July & was denied even though the dates were open?

The cancellation happen before I could respond and accept.

Why would that happen?

Maybe the guest didn't meet the ID standards, payment didn't get processed, technical error.... What message did you receive regarding the cancelation?

Possibly the guest did not meet your verification criteria. Possibly flagged by Airbnb Trust and Safety and denied the booking. You could call and ask but if the reason is anything like those, they will not tell you. Privacy issues.

From time to time I will see a cancelled booking on my Reservation page and I did not even know the guest was looking. No contact. 

Airbnb is smarter than we think at catching baddies. We just see when they miss.
