Alteration Tool for refunds

Has anyone used the alteration tool to give a refund? I want to give a 10% discount, but I can't reconcile the numbers arrived at on the sample sheet... does the 10% come off the nightly rate - 

I'd appreciate feedback from anyone who has used the tool before.
