Cleaning and security fees

I'd like to know more about cleaning fees and security deposits. Should I collect those, as a host? If so, how?

Thanks.

@Andy32 If your listing specifies a cleaning fee, it will be collected by AirBnB for each booking as part of the overall bill and will be included in your payout. If you specify a security deposit, it will only be pre-authorized by AirBnB (with the guest's chosen payment method, ie, their credit card, PayPal account, and so on), but it *won't* be paid to you or even charged to the guest until/unless you make a claim against it and AirBnB decides in your favor for that claim. To sum up: your payout for each typical booking will consist of the total of your rate for all the booked nights, plus your cleaning fee, minus AirBnB's standard 3% host fee on the previous total. Any security deposit, as explained, doesn't factor into your standard payouts.

Just to clarify, there is no hold or pre-authorization against the credit card for the security deposit. It's only charged if you file a claim.

"Any guest who confirms a reservation at your listing will be responsible for damages up to this amount. No charges or authorizations will be made unless you make a claim within 48 hours after check out."
