Don't count your lunatics before they hatch!
Hey, seeing as your in the mood for useles trivialities tonight......
Isn't it funny the way we interpret sayings! I have seen people from your side of the world say 'knock on wood' so many times....I think that departed star by the name of Danny Kaye even stared in a film about the subject in 1954, the plot of the movie being, he was always stumbling into situations!
Over this side of the world when we hope to stay clear of trouble we say 'touch wood' and reach for the nearest bit of timber to grab hoping that that act will somehow deliver us from evil.
And when you sit down and think about it, our slant on it is probably a lot more plausable than yours Fred.
Back before the stone age, cave men (I am lead to believe from watching the Flintsones) would carry around a club of.............! When they were in a difficult situation I would lay a bet they did not just knock on that trusty club of theirs, I think they would have grabbed for it!
So I think we got it right!
Cheers.....Rob
