An upcoming guest wants my street address so she can ship her car to my home prior to her arrival. I know airbnb has rules about me giving out my address. Has anyone else had a similar problem? How did you handle it?
I should add, she is a confirmed booking. She arrives in three weeks for a five week stay. That being the case, is it ok for me to send her my address?
If the booking is confirmed, she should have your address and other details.
Allowing shipments to your address is another matter and to me the request seems strange. She should leave the car in the care of the hauling company until arrival, otherwise you would have to sign for the shipment - that would be a huge responsibility to undertake.
I agree with @Laura543: I would be VERY hesitant to have a guest ship things to my home. What if it arrives early? late? damaged? Or is stolen or damaged after you have signed for it? I guess I couldn't prevent the guest from sending it, but I would make it very clear that I would not sign for it, accept it, or take care of it.
Hello @Laura543,
Nice to meet you, welcome!
As @Marit-Anne0 and @Isabel203 mentioned, this sounds strange indeed. It might perhaps be better to not go ahead with signing for the car.
Could you let us know how it goes?
As Marit Anne mentioned, the guest already has my address since she is confirmed. Neither she nor I realized that. At this point, I can't really stop her from giving it to the shipping company. However, I did let her know that I would not be able to accept her car for her. She should plan to arrive before her car. I have no place to put it until my current guest leaves. She was fine with that. Seems like a lot of money to spend for a 5 week stay. I don't understand why it's necessary, but I also can't see any way that it could cause me problems. Thanks for the support everyone. I'll let you know how it goes.
Hi @Laura543 - I had a kind of similar situation with a guest moving out to CA and was in the process of shipping her car. She actually just asked me where the nearest Home Depot or large parking lot was and I gave her that address. That was the address she ended up using and I think it worked out OK for her.
Originally, I found a hotel with a big parking garage that was willing to house her car for a few days. She said the shipping company required a residential address. I really hope there will be no issues now that she has access to my address.
Hi Everyone,
Just writing a follow-up to let those of you interested know that I am just finishing up a wonderful visit with the guest who had her car shipped to my home. I was not home when the car arrived, but she was. It arrived safely and there were absolutely no incidents. Shipping a car to my home was an odd request, but there was no sneaky business.
Thanks again for your input and support.
Laura
Hello @Laura543,
Thank you so much for coming back with an update to inform all of us here! I'm glad to hear that you've had a great experience with your guest :-).
Do you need freight shipping services, either in the U.S. or internationally? Do you need freight shipping services, either in the U.S. or internationally? If the weight and dimensions of the luggage exceed the dimensions of the car, then its transportation becomes a problem. To solve it, you need to contact a specialized company, where the delivery of goods in the United States and other countries is carried out quickly and efficiently without restrictions on weight and size. What is the price of the question? Maybe someone knows more information on this issue?
