I didn't receive an email sent by a guest to my Airbnb-generated email address.

I didn't receive an email sent by a guest to my Airbnb-generated email address.  My Profile and Notification Settings are set correctly, and I checked my Spam folder and the email did not go to there. 

 

Of course she was upset that she hadn't heard back from me, and she finally sent me the message via the Airbnb system.  I want to make sure this doesn't happen again!

Now that you are in touch with the guest, you can request the guest to send a test mail just to see if it reaches now. If it doesn't please contact Airbnb and report your problem.

I personally find the Airbnb App Messenger most reliable.
