I live in Europe, but want to start a new listing on an island in the Caribbean. I am looking for a smart lock for self check in. Electricity network is equal to the US (110V). The door currently has a deadbolt lock. These are my requirements;
- I want to be able to see every opening/closing of the door (to detect misuse of the property by cleaning staff for example).
- create codes manually that are valid for a particular time period (automatic generation of code and communication through Airbnb not necessary).
- key hole as back up
- I should be able to duplicate key without ordering it in the US and having it sent to the Caribbean.
So could you please advice me on the following:
- what happens to the lock if wifi (temporarily) goes down before guest arrives; how can guest check in?
- I am considering getting a Schlage or a Yale Zigbee/Zwave lock. Any particular recommendations?
- It seems like the best set-up would consist of buying the lock, a smart things hub and the Rboy app. Is that correct and Is the Rboy app reliable?
Anything I missed?
Thank you so much in advance!
