Do I need a business license?

Hello All!

I hope someone can help me clarify if I am required to obtain a business license.  

The following are the facts:

1. I am in San Pedro, which is an incorporated part of LA County
2. I am renting out one room in my primary residence 
3. I am aware that the TOT is being collected and remitted and I must submit the paper monthly to the Office of Finance

If anyone is in a similar situation, any guidance or advice would be greatly appreciated!
