Welcome to the Frontline stays board. Introduce yourself here.

Hi, I'm Kat on the Frontline stays team. We created this group so that you and other hosts offering stays for COVID-19 first responders have a dedicated space to meet and support each other, and connect with our team. We hope you can use this group to connect with other hosts in your area, share tips and advice for hosting first responders in these unique circumstances, and ask questions. If you haven’t already, please check out our Frontline stays FAQs

To start, let’s get to know each other! If you’d like, please introduce yourself - you can include where you’re from, how long you’ve been hosting, and why you decided to open your listing up to first responders.

Thank you for being here, the frontline stays program would not exist without you.

Kat

As always, please remember to keep the Community Center Guidelines in mind when you interact in this group.

Hi all. I have been a host in Flagstaff Arizona since 2013. I'm offering my listing to responders because in part my influencers, a family member who is working in a hospital, who is self isolating in-place from family and a daughter working overseas on the COVID response for an NGO. I have had no queries yet. I am within a 5 minute drive of our local and only hospital.

Local testing is almost non-existent, yet our area is servicing the unfortunate Native Americans who represent a large percentage of Arizonas COVID cases.

Hello to my fellow Hosts!  I am only too pleased to join up with you all and support the shelter lodging needs of our Guests  in need of a safe, healthy, secure environment to live and work.  The pivot to monthly stays year round was an easy transition for my two guest houses in Redmond Oregon. When this crisis hit I was already hosting a physical therapy student on internship duty  and a building contractor supervisor.  Having crafted my places to cater to their needs my business was increasingly occupied with the monthly stay Guest.  All I had to do was  Opt In for COVID 19 protocols and set minimum stay at 28 days. And follow guidelines for minimal contact and door step deliveries of goods and services as promised in the listing and abide by Oregon policy  and I am ready to book.

If this works out like I hope it will I may never go back to short-term rental!

I'm Bryan from Canada. We have a place in Phoenix, Arizona that we just let 4 nurses from Phoenix use. They were good and offered to pay to get the house cleaned. The process through AirBnB was difficult.

Hi everyone, I'm Heather, from Stowe, Vermont. Thank you for including me !

I've been a Superhost since 2016. I manage 56 rental properties here, about 20 of them on Airbnb. We opened a number of properties for the Frontline stays program, but shortly after it started the state asked Airbnb to shut down all of our calendars. We usually have frequent visitors from Boston and NY metro areas and there was concern our hospitals here would be quickly overwhelmed. They are opened back up now.

As we were unable to accept Frontline stays, we got creative and made some condos (that had attached garages and separate entrances) available to local medical staff. It provides a safe place where they can change clothes, wash them, take showers and rest before returning home to their families.

I'm looking forward to hearing from others about how we can keep housekeepers and guests as safe as possible.  Cheers everyone!

Hello World,

Adam & Cathy from Puerto Rico Hosting since 2012.  Honored to be in this group.

We are mostly a company that teaches folks how to use their space, culture and passions to create income along with jobs and opportunity for their community. Many of the properties we've helped or manage are owned by elderly so they've shut their properties down from hosting for now in fear of compromising their health with a traveler that may visit. This demographic is 60% of our business but we are happy that they get to protect their health this way. Most of them have done well enough income to not have to make money right now.

Those of us that are still available to host have opened our properties to medical hosting or support. We hope the areas we manage in don't need this but happy that we get to help if it comes to that.

Stay safe, stay hoping, stay giving & stay loving.

Adam y Cathy

Hello!!

I am Susan and I have been a host since April 2014. I miss the Airbnb Open’s. Thought the last one felt like lost its sense of purpose. I hope they bring it back but on a smaller scale. It was a good boost and informative and re-energized me. Sometimes as a host that would be good.

Sorry, off topic. I have my original Airbnb in our home. Still going strong and have had a few bookings during this horrible time. We also have three condos with a minimum stay of 6 weeks that is almost exclusively traveling nurses. I wanted to offer some of our places to frontline workers but our area has flattened the curve enough where we are not seeing as many traveling nurses coming this way. If things continue we might have to sell one to make sure the others stay in solid footing. It’s a tough time for everyone. I am hoping to make someone’s life a little easier. Whether it is a local nurse or doctor that needs to stay away from family or friend or someone who is traveling from afar that needs a place to stay.

I am hoping this is going to be a positive experience. When I have joined a group before I had to leave because it just became, sadly a place for people to vent and not in a good way.

I love hosting and love using Airbnb as my platform. I miss my short term guests and their coming to celebrate or even to say goodbye to someone. I can’t wait to get back to it.

Hello there, my name is Jon Cline and my wife and I are hosts here in West Hills (Los Angeles), California for a little over a year. We were happy to welcome several nurses and other front line staff to stay in our home in April. It was a good use of the home after several cancellations in April.

Congratulations for the initiative! Jon! I'll see if I can do something like that for my country.

Hello, thanks for the invitation.  My name is Fernanda, I have been hosting since September 2018, started with one unit and recently got 2 more (Dec 2019) and now I have 4.  Because Covid-19, I don't know what my future as a host will be.  We are seriously thinking on putting 2 of the properties on the market because I cannot pay mortgage for all of them on my own.  I don't have any bookings until mid July and even those are starting to cancelled.   I am devastating, I put so much work and love on these properties, it break my heart to part from them.  I decided to be part of this program hoping to help those who are trying their best to help the victims of this pandemic, and at the same time to see if I could get some bookings as well.  It might sound bad, but if I had money I would give it for free.  Anyways, I only hope we get out of this mess soon and we can get back to some kind of normalcy.

Hello, Everyone!

My name is Ozlam Tahirli. Me and my wife (Arzu) together are hosting big and soviet-style apartment in Baku. It has been an absolute delight to host on Airbnb meeting people from different backgrounds. Also, it contributed to our income in a very good way that at first place I did not even imagine.

Unfortunately, COVID-19 hit us big time also. In comparison to the last summer, in which our calendar was fully booked, this year we keep getting cancellations and therefore loosing significant amount of potential income, I am sure you all do. We just love hosting on Airbnb. Hence, we are investing quite an amount of time and energy to help Airbnb hosting a better place.

Hopefully it will work out better for All of us!

Warmest Regards and Stay Safe!
Ozlam & Arzu (Superhost, +2 year)

Hi all,

I've been a Superhost since 2016 and I've only ever used Airbnb because I trust those that use this platform. I am very sad that all of us have been affected in some way, from a health or economic point of view. I have my house in Lombardy, Italy (Europe's first epicentre) which I usually rent out in the summer and this year I have had all cancellations.

I also rent my apartment in Glebe. This apartment is close to a hospital and I have offered it on airbnb as well as to the hospitals directly for free. I have also been offering my COACHING and COUNSELLING services to many Italians who are experiencing fear, isolation and loss of loved ones. I am doing all of this for free as this is the only way for the moment, I can see I can help.

Thank you Airbnb.

You are doing good job. We need to help each other now. I am doing same in Nepal. I habe Airbnb in Pokhara city and hospital are in walking distance. We are offering free stay for responders and health care workers gor certain period. Our business is totally affected and no guest now and no upcoming booking.

We hope this crises will be over soon.

Praying for everyone 🙏🙏🙏
