I received an instant book reservation and I'm not sure I feel comfortable with it. I've messaged the guest, but have not heard anything back yet and so am considering cancelling the reservation. It is for several weeks out. Will this count against my super host status?

I just sent a tweet to @Airbnbhelp and they said that "Yes, it will affect Superhost status". It does not really seem quite fair and will probably cause many people who care about Superhost status to turn off Instant Book.

Yes, @Dave-and-Deb0 just saw your tweet on @Airbnbhelp. It's not fair to say you can cancel 3 times without penalty, yet be penalized for Super Host status. Nope, no IB for me!
@Dave-and-Deb0 Sounds like @airbnbhelp modified their response on IB cancellations/Super Host status. I guess you have to discuss with Airbnb the reason for the cancellation.
Here is their latest response. Not sure if the dog is wagging the tail or if the tail is wagging the dog!

Super Dave!! You wouldn't let go until Airbnb gave you a straight answer. This should propel you to a Level 11 !
Haha @Clare0! I am not sure I actually received a straight answer. It looks like you have to contact Airbnb to see if they will accept it as a reason first before they will agree to not hurt your Superhost status. I am just going to miss getting Superhost status as I do not have ten completed bookings yet.

Dave and Deb, thanks for the additional info, looks like it was posted as I was writing my post. So, it still seems like there is some confusion within Airbnb and there just needs to be clarification in the Instant Book information. My issue has resolved itself and I no longer need to cancel the reservation after talking to the guest some more. This is good for future reference and others with the same issue.

That is how I was interpreting it - the 3 penalty free cancellations were in regard to financial penalties, but not in regards to the impact on ones metrics / super host status. I do feel that this should be clarified within the Instant Book information so that people turning on Instant Book are aware of the impact, if they do cancel a reservation. This has caused me to turn off Instant Book for now.

Yes, I agree with you @Clare0 BUT I did ask @Airbnb help and they said that any cancellation will affect SuperHost status. I think they need to clarify this because this does not seem "Penalty Free".
